The headline is arguably the most important part of an article.

If you don’t get your headline right, no one is going to click on it. If no one clicks on it, no one reads it. You won’t get feedback, no one will see your work, and you won’t be able to create revenue. Fortunately, there are ways to ensure you are writing effective headlines.

Here’s one simple trick I’ve been using that has consistently been getting me over 1000 views of every article.

The Deal with Headlines

Headlines are what grab your audience and get them to click on your article.

You can write the best article in history, but if no one clicks on it, no one will know.

The key is to understand what the reader wants. Your headline needs to highlight what the reader is going to get out of reading your article. This means you need to know what people are looking for.

So, here’s the little trick:

Google your rough headline idea.

For example, maybe you want to write an article about the top problems freelancers face.

You could google some keywords like:

  • top problems freelancers face
  • freelance challenges
  • freelance issues
  • etc.

You’ll see the format and wording that other people (who are ranking well on Google) are using.

You can then take this structure and some of the keywords to create your own headline.

This strategy is really effective because the headlines that are on the first page of Google are headlines that are doing well.

If you’re a writer, you need to spend time on your headlines.

Your headline will make or break the article. By leveraging what other successful writers have done, you too can create effective headlines. Simply google your keywords and find an effective structure.

Now go get your headlines right.
