avatarFollowing God

Summary

The article discusses the challenges of maintaining faith in the face of life's uncertainties and the misconceptions about God's nature and desires.

Abstract

The text explores the struggle with faith, attributing it to the lack of control over events, past disappointments, and the difficulty in trusting an unseen deity. It emphasizes that despite human unworthiness, God chooses to have a relationship with us, asking not for perfection but for belief in Him. The article suggests that faith is strengthened by understanding God's character, His message, and the examples of biblical figures. It argues against the perception of God as a genie, instead presenting Him as a provider of true happiness and spiritual wealth, contrasting it with the fleeting nature of material riches. The author acknowledges the presence of doubt and the role of Lucifer in fostering it, as well as the importance of seeking answers and accepting that some questions may remain unanswered. The text concludes by challenging readers to look beyond their immediate desires and to recognize the gift of life and existence as reasons for gratitude and faith.

  • Faith in God is about believing in His goodness, His message, and what He asks of us.
  • God's intentions are for our ultimate good, not necessarily our immediate gratification.
  • Lucifer's role is to cast doubt and distract from God's truth, leading to a focus on material desires.
  • Material wealth is seen as a superficial pursuit that does not provide lasting fulfillment.
  • God's actions in the Bible are sometimes misunderstood, and some individuals reject faith due to a lack of understanding or acceptance of His ways.
  • People are responsible for their actions and should not expect God to clean up their messes.
  • Existence itself is presented as a gift, superior to non-existence, and a reason for gratitude toward God.

Struggling With Faith…

One of the reasons why we struggle with faith is because things don’t happen when we want them to. The things we want to happen, most of the times don’t happen at all. Therefore, the reason why we struggle with faith is because we’re not in control. And we’re not supposed to.

We struggle with faith because we’ve been lied to and disappointed so many times. Not only by life, not only by others, but also by ourselves. Faith means trust, and if we can’t trust the things around us, how can we trust someone who regularly doesn’t seem to be here? How can we trust someone who isn’t constantly physically reminding us of who He is, since we are so quick to forget?

Perhaps we struggle with faith because it’s so hard to believe a being so good does exist and we question if we are worthy of His presence. Since doubt causes us to stumble, we go to the dark side. And since we’re already there, we go even deeper into it. Willingly forgetting about Jesus.

We’re not worthy of His presence. We’ve done, we do, and will always do what’s against His holiness. But even so, He chose us, He chose to be with us. He chose to give us a chance to have a relationship with Him. We don’t have to be perfect, but we have to believe in Him.

But how can we believe in Him with our trust issues and imperfections? We do it by seeing what He asks us to do. Who He is as a person. What He wants from us. What is His message.

How can we not have faith in someone who only wants the best for us? Who makes us better. Who’s against inequity. Who has no favorites. And if you think He does, go ask Moses, Saul, David and so many others what happened to them when they went against Yahweh.

Struggling with faith may be a temporary necessity if you keep finding ways to strengthen it. Doesn’t make you any less of a believer, just human. We have doubts, we ask questions, and we find answers.

We’re not going to get answers for everything we want to know, and God warned us about it. We may not even like the answers we do find, but they’re the truth.

Lucifer is a deceiver. He casts doubt. He made Eve doubt the word of God so Man could fall from God’s grace. He puts so many lies and distractions around us, so we see, so we think about anything but God. Making us live in the flesh, focusing solely on our desires and not God’s desires. And if God’s desires are against our own, why would we want to believe in Him?

If we ask for riches and we get more struggle, does it mean God doesn’t exist? Is that God giving us the middle finger? Or is that God showing us we don’t need to be rich, we only need Him, and be grateful for what we do have.

Because if we focus on what we do have and not what we lack, we’ll be creative with it. We’ll make use of it and realize we actually have a lot.

What are riches for anyway? Only to boast to others. To be proud to wake up every day in a mansion with a nice car. Having people either hate us or treat us like gods.

It’s a good feeling, isn’t it? Causing such strong emotions on others. Absorbing, taking their energy. Relying on a finite, superficial thing to give meaning to our lives. When the excitement wears off, we become ungrateful again because we’re not looking for grace in the right place.

It amazes me the people who fall from the faith and their reasons why. God’s not the genie they taught He was. He doesn’t behave exactly like they want them too. When they kiss the behinds of powerful people, those people give them what they want. But God knows the heart of every person. He knows the real intent behind every action. And He’ll change our hearts, our thoughts, so we can ask for what we actually need and will truly make us happy. Not for the things that will only weigh us down.

They can’t understand some of His actions in the bible and refuse to figure out why. They can’t accept the bad things He allows to happen in the world. When the bad things are caused by Satan and our free will.

But we refuse to take responsibility for our actions. We expect to make a mess and have Daddy clean it for us. We blame Him for giving us the gift of life, for existing, when it’s so much better than non-existence no matter what kind of life you have.
