FUTURE POETRY

Stroke of Luck?

A nature poem with the prompt ‘stroke’, part of the never-ending poem. Gaia’s always helping me out.

My canvas is blank, pristine white. A new beginning, a try, a plight?

What shall I paint today? My colors shine blue, a little reflective. My soul wants true.

But what is truth if not depending on my limited view and impulses trending?

My desire is faulty, my want is flawed. My flow is depending on Gaia’s thought.

Stop it! Just do. I’ll find my calling by doing and loving, and repeatedly falling.

The first stroke is coarse and pink. My eyes are vacant, don’t care what you think.

My heart is in it. And a stroke of luck? Gaia’s watching my back when I’m stuck.

Open to honest comments.

A little background. I’ve been a writer all my life, but only a few months ago I started with English poetry. Mostly free verse and haiku, expanding it (prompted) to Abecedarian (Holly Jahangiri) and Fibonacci sequence (Amy Marley).

Check these two ladies out, they’re inspiring to me and many others!

This is my first attempt at using rhyme.

Hope your enamel won’t jump off your teeth (haha, Dutch phrase) when you’re chewing on it…

This is why I love Medium so much. I can experiment, I can try and I have an honest audience helping me become a better writer. Thanks, folks!

This poem was inspired by three never-ending poem-mentions I received in a few days' time. When that happens, I know it’s time to write some poetry again…

Sherry McGuinn asked me with the prompt ‘stroke’.

Martine Weber asked me without a prompt

And another one. Grrrr… I can’t find it anymore. Browsing, but in vain. So I went with the stroke prompt by Sherry.

I want to congratulate Martin Rushton who started the never-ending poem. It’s feeding well, Martin. It has no problems staying alive after months and months and months…

And in reciprocity, because shining a light on someone who inspires you is so rewarding, I would like you all to meet Keira Fulton-Lees. Her poetry (and other writing) is one of a kind. Here’s her poem about the mathematics of nature. Hmm… this got me immensely inspired to know more about Gaia’s numbers…
