Strangers teach you a lesson
‘Strangers are just strangers. And you should not talk or look at them and focus on your self-being.’ In a certain way, it will be true.
At the other hand, strangers could be someone teaching you a lesson.
When strangers talk to you, probably you’re annoying too much. You don’t have to be. If you open up to the talks of strangers, you might end up learning a lesson. Maybe a lesson you’ve always needed.
When strangers are talking to you is great! What happens when you’re sitting on the bus and the elderly lady next to you talks about her son who is doing great in school; getting high marks and being involved in his community at school. You could think: ‘Please, get me out of here’ or you can think: ‘Wait, I never have been involved in my community at school and my marks aren’t great’.
Talk to this lady about her son doing great in school. Ask her how he does achieve this and what he learnt. Maybe you can get some information for yourself on how you can get these high marks at school, how you can get involved in your community or other volunteering work.
Educate yourself during the road
What lesson can you learn from this conversation with this elderly lady? Lessons you can get from talking to strangers:
- educate yourself, learn from every conversation you have — family, strangers and friends
- what are the benefits for me from the conversation?
- why is this stranger talking to me and what does the stranger want me to know?
Education yourself is very important. And I believe that this stranger want you to know something she or he experienced.
