A poem regarding the current Corvid-19 pandemic

Story Of An Angel

A tribute to all the angels walking among us

She’s beautiful Her hair she tightly knot up under a cap Her face is distorted, filled with sorrow and pain A purple taint sits resting under her eyes An odor of sweat fills the air A testimonial of her efforts The sweet smell of resilience As she walks down a hallway, stuffed with desperate cries

Prayers around her asking the heavens above To send down an angel, how ironic Can’t they see these giant wings, unfolding before their eyes? Every day, she gives hope to those who lost theirs And the burden she bears is slowly wearing her down She can’t cry, she’s not allowed to For her sight in these goggles would be vastly impaired If she gave in to her sadness and tremendous despair

She’s beautiful Not for her skin, nor her shine Not for her teeth, hidden behind a respirator Taking its toll on her every breath No, her beauty stems from the good she has done She’s an angel, please see How desperately she shares your pain In the cold face of death

You too are familiar with the cruel pain of loss How it devours our light How it taints our soul But in time we heal, and it fades again For this angel it’s different She knows no redemption Because her pain repeats daily For each child she loses, fighting in vain

Medical workers around the globe are working to exhaustion against the current corvid-19 pandemic. While the death toll is often a matter of discussion on social media and the news, people often forget the impact of even a single lost life. Each life lost impacts countless others. Families are torn apart.

Medical workers are at the front lines. They don’t just walk around shaking hands and laying IVs. They are confronted with countless of deaths. And each death to them feels like a lost battle.

Each single death is a pain they will have to carry with them through the rest of their lives. This is not only true for the current pandemic; their career is one working right at the gates of death. Appreciate these people, who deliberately chose to work in one of the most taxing environments a human could ever dare to pick.

The compensation is poor. The working hours are insane. And they often don’t even have time to deal with their emotions.

A soldier fights during war. But these people fight every single day.

Much love and gratitude to each one of you. Thank you for your sacrifice.
