Summary

Jack Heimbigner shares his journey of transitioning from a struggling writer to a successful self-published author by seeking guidance from those who had already achieved his goals.

Abstract

Jack Heimbigner initially believed he could achieve writing success independently, relying on his own knowledge. However, after years of unsuccessful attempts, he discovered a book through a Facebook ad that promised to guide authors through writing and publishing a book within a specific timeframe. Following this structured approach, Heimbigner wrote his first draft in 90 days, hired professionals for editing and cover design, and marketed his book, leading to hundreds of sales upon publication. This experience taught him the importance of seeking help from experienced individuals, realizing that others have already accomplished similar goals and can provide a proven system for success. He emphasizes that while one may possess all the necessary information, the key to success often lies in how that information is applied through an effective system. Heimbigner encourages readers to stop struggling and to utilize available resources and systems to achieve their dreams.

Stop, You Will Keep Failing at Your Goals Without Getting Help

Sometimes there is a better way right around the corner.

When I first started writing years ago, I thought I could achieve writing success and publish lots of books on my own. I thought I had read enough and learned enough to make it happen.

What actually ended up happening were years of falling flat on my face.

I had started blogging years before. But stopped once I started my corporate job. When I started dreaming about writing again, I started to do all the things I had previously learned. I got a self-hosted blog, started an email list, and wrote consistently for two years.

Then I came across a Facebook ad for a book about writing a book in 30 days and publishing it in 90 days. I thought this was absolutely impossible.

Nevertheless, I bought a copy of the book and started following the steps.

Over the next 90 days, I wrote the first draft of a book. I hired an editor and cover designer. Once I had a finished manuscript, I formatted and started to market the book. And in 120 days, I published my first book to the tune of hundreds of sales.

What I Learned From My Book Publishing Experience

In a matter of four months, I went from an unpublished writer to a self-published author. I had accomplished something that normally takes one to two years for someone who traditionally publishes.

What was even more important was this lesson:

When you feel stuck doing something, find help from someone who has already done what you want to do.

Out of this one primary lesson, I learned a few other important lessons too. In fact, these smaller lessons can apply to many aspects of my life today.

1-Someone Else Has Accomplished Your Goal

So often, someone else has already accomplished your goal and is sharing how they did it. In the example of publishing a book, I came across Chandler Bolt’s book Published and found a system to help me publish my first book because he had done it already.

2-You Might Know All The Information, But Someone Else Has Put It Together

For years, I thought I knew enough about diet and exercise to lose weight and get healthy. But it wasn’t happening. Then I started a program and learned how to lose weight and get healthy. The program doesn’t have a lot of new information, but it put it together so I could see results.

3-If Your System Doesn’t Work, Use Someone Else’s System

Over the years at my day job, I have tried to create system after system to get out of my productivity struggles. Finally, I did enough research to find several systems that helped me go from a productivity failure to productivity success. Sometimes, we need to use someone else’s system to find the success we desire.

Go Get Help Instead and Succeed

It is crucial for you to go get help instead of continuing to re-invent the wheel. Why keep struggling when there is a way to find success and achieve your goals today. There are tons of resources available.
