How to discover your hidden passions

Be Mindful

If we all sat down and thought about what we wanted to achieve and/or begin, there is probably a lot on that list. However, it seems as if there are always even more subconscious limitations and excuses holding us back.

When you start a new venture, whether that’s a new blog, YouTube channel, or anything creative, the pressure is so low and there are initially very low expectations. This means you have the ability to experiment and see what you like and what you don’t.

If you started a new blog with the idea that you’re really going to enjoy it and be consistent, but you end up finding it boring, you can say that you tried and move on from there. Without that beginning, you would now know what you didn’t enjoy.

However, on the other hand, it can really work out in your favor. You could easily end up loving this new creative journey and now you don’t have to keep telling yourself ‘what if?’

There are a very few people who begin life with ‘I want to be a pilot’ or ‘I want to be a Doctor’ and end up fulfilling that role. I bet if I asked you what you wanted to be when you were 5 years old it would not be what you are doing right now. I used to want to be a firefighter or an astronaut. Now, fire and space scare me.

This means that throughout life we often stumble across opportunities and experiences which mould our future, it is something very hard to predict.

So, instead of trying to find the most ‘convenient’ time to try something new, start ASAP! We cannot predict what is most convenient for us but only live in the present.

Setting up expectations

I’ve seen that booking and planning something in advance can help. Do you want to learn guitar? Book those guitar lessons weeks in advance. Do you want to learn a new language? Pre-pay an online tutor. That additional pressure can sometimes help.

Have a great week!
