Stop Spreading Hate and Misogyny
What can we do when people have hateful troll like comments to articles?
We all have probably been there… Seeing hate speech responses on an article here or elsewhere. Sometimes we wish to respond in kind and sometimes we fight to ignore it as what the person wants is attention… This is an example of a response I wrote, but then deleted, to such a reader here on Medium.
Dear [name of Troll]
(Who since has deleted his hateful comment, and conveniently so…. )
My reading of your response to this article says the same about you.
“Arsehole”,
“Asshole” is how we write it and pronounce it in the U.S., but I have a feeling you already knew that.
The Medium platform isn’t a place for trolls. You should change how you communicate, or read articles elsewhere.
This place is supposed to be a sanctuary for readers, writers, and intellectuals who appreciate the art of communication, and allow others to be themselves.
This is a place where people can feel brave to put themselves out there, and contribute to this place by writing something, anything, that is deemed: true, challenging, interesting, diverse, liberating, helpful, funny/amusing, worldly, and spiritual.
This is not a place to perpetuate what is constantly already out there in our faces every day… Hate speeches, disguised as, “free speech”, when it is obviously derogatory, compulsory, and crude… Like your hateful comment, especially when it is yelling at a diverse group of people (women, children, Black people, POC, LGBTQ+, etc.)
What makes you believe your point of view is the only “acceptable” or “correct” point of view? What makes you think anyone will respond respectfully, when you have insulted an enormous group of people? Where does your hate come from for you to abuse others, under a faceless banner and a pseudo-name?
I have news for you, in case you did not read the agreement terms of your membership on this platform. This is not a hate speech platform. This is a place with at least ethics and compassion towards readers and contributing writers alike.
If you continue to spread your hate, your misogynistic messages, your slew of curse words and derogatory terms; then Karma, the universe, GOD, will get you back three-fold.
I am not a person who makes empty threats, so I won’t. If I do, this could be used against me in a court of law, and I am not going there, in case Karma, the efficient universal mother that she is, gets you back three-fold after all, down the line (this decade or the next). All I know is that I do not want to be blamed for that bad-ass Karmic B-I-T-C-H getting your “arse” for your hate, your poisonous tongue, and attitude towards all others who are not you, or like you.
I know many people who see your comments are probably tempted, or have cursed you out and spread your hate back at you, like I am doing now, but really, none of us should even give you the time of day.
Small-minded, low self-esteem people, with an inflated ego, make comments like yours against harmless, peaceful, and kind people, who are just stating the truth and making a point.
I suggest you move forward or move on!

(Mother, teacher, avid reader of everything, and occasional writer — who are you?)
P.S. Dear reader, in case you are curious, of course, this Medium reader responded in kind with another hateful response and more derogatory language. I took the high ground, and did not respond at all, instead I blocked him and deleted my original response. Let us not give hateful speakers, misogynistic “arseholes” power to take over our space! Push them out by not commenting at all; ignore them, even if they ask a question, then block their a$$!
Take care and spread love, kindness, and support for one another; not hate, that’s the last thing the world needs… Especially now.
