STOP IT! STOP IT! STOP LINK-DROPPING!

Rude disregard for other writers’ hard work has to stop.

Enough is enough! The articles I (Link Bombs Stink) and countless others have written on this topic seem to have been ignored by the perpetrators, so why am I torturing myself by writing about it again?

Because I love writing, work hard at it, and am proud of the work I do. I have just spent an entire week working up to eight hours a day, meticulously researching, writing, editing, and successfully getting four articles published in Medium publications. I want to share my work with other writers and readers. If you’re not interested in my topics, that’s okay. Take a pass on my articles and read someone’s whose are more to your liking. I do it all the time.

But DON’T invade MY article promotion space by ignoring what I have written, rudely drop your own link, and leave. DON’T think writing “read and clapped” substitutes for reading my work and leaving a substantive comment. Are you aware that I can look up “claps” and see that you did not leave any? Even if you did “clap”, it is meaningless when it was only done to justify, in your mind I guess, dropping your link in my space.

Every writer’s Facebook group has a section in which to post your article, just like I do with mine. Do you think you will “coattail” my readers and followers by dropping into my space? It’s going to backfire because I “hide” the link bombers' articles now so no one can see them.

I LOVE reading other Medium writers’ work. When I see an article or story that I think is outstanding, I always advertise it in a separate post so everyone can see it.

I also leave substantive comments about which parts of the article I particularly liked. It seems to me to be the polite and supportive thing to do.

A big THANK YOU to Judey Kalchick for including this issue in one of her latest articles — “Please read, enjoy, heart, tip”, in which she includes a section lambasting link bombers.

If, by any chance, this article is read by any of you Link Bombers out there, PLEASE (I’m asking politely) STOP. Link bombing is rude, unprofessional, and disrespectful.
