A battle against ourselves.

To my brothers and my sisters who chimed the bells before I lived- social justice defeated? I think not.

But if I’m destined to forget the lessons I was taught to treat others as I’d like, not out of spite, but to reunite- humanity at its core or is there only one thing that unites; a tragedy?

I’m flummoxed by this loss. Not again, not again. Let us rise to the occasion. Let our voices be heard: My southern sister is not a rapist, Nor a convict, Nor a sin. Let her in, let them in. My eastern brother is no terrorist Or a threat to your beliefs, Let him in, let them in.

This country is full of itself; stealing souls from somewhere else, stealing land from someone else, then staking claim to what’s not theirs, and kicking others out.

So to the privileged and the proud: Put down your loaded gun, put down your righteous claims, put down your ignorant tongue; there is no you, or I, or them.

In the end, we are one.
