Stop Being Awesome, You’re Intimidating Those Around You
My brain said

One thing I’ve come to learn in life is that not all who are silent are shy. We’re often too quick to tag people as shy because they keep to themselves or speak little.
Yes, shyness may be due to low self-confidence and insecurities for some. However, for many others, like me, it is simply an irrational fear of our own greatness.
It’s a feeling that is tough to grapple with but believe me when I say, it’s just the fear of being phenomenal.
Being outstanding comes with its pressures. It means you have to constantly uphold a certain standard. The anxiety of maintaining that superiority and the attention it brings could be overwhelming.
For this reason, many prefer to live under the radar, be in their small corners, unheard, unnoticed, unchallenged. I did this for years, allowing fear to rob me of the spotlight. Not anymore though.
There’s an uncanny fear we develop, thinking that if we shine too bright, we’ll intimidate those around us.
We start worrying they won’t accept us or we won’t fit into the crowd anymore. That was my fear too. However, let me tell you a secret; people are always attracted to the light.
Your intelligence, capabilities, and creativity are like a candle in the darkness, and they will draw others in.
Fear could easily get the best of us. It lures us into believing it’s better to be average and stay unnoticed. Therefore, we camouflage and dumb down our brilliance to not scare people away.
We start pretending to be someone we’re not just to blend in, eventually losing our identities to the crowd.
However, in these past years, I’ve come to realise something. That I’ve wasted too much time afraid to embrace who I am, afraid to let my greatness show.
There is this unending whisper inside that yearns for expression. So why should I hide it away?
The fact is, we’re all made of stardust, meant to sparkle. Each one of us possesses unique gifts, talents, skills and ideas that can make a significant difference in the world around us. Let’s not dull our shine for anyone.
Let your presence be noticed and your kindness flow from you like a river, making those around you flourish.
You’re so much more than what you allow yourself to be. The time has come to make your greatness known.
It may feel awkward or terrifying to break away from your comfort zone. But, there’s a liberating feeling that comes with releasing your true self.
Your heart will glow brighter than the stars as you show your genuine brilliance.
Remember that being great is not about pleasing everyone. Not everyone will be comfortable with your shine. And that’s fine.
We’re all on a journey to self-discovery, a journey only we can walk for ourselves.
When we shine, we also inspire others to dig deeper, to discover their unique shine and come out of their shells. Your boldness could be someone else’s liberation.
Embrace your greatness. I’m no longer holding back, and neither should you. Let’s make this world brighter together.
And remember, being shy is ok but being afraid of your greatness, not so much! It’s time to be a bit bold.
After all, we are what we believe we are! Shine on and never dim your light.
