Blueprint For Spending the Next 365 Days

2020 was the year we sent maximum condolences.

We all understood the hard way that life is transient and no one knows if we will get another chance to love, say sorry, make amends with someone.

Shattered by this uncertainty of life I embraced 2021 with a notion of painting the world with love. I received exponentially in heaps and bounds the love I painted the world with.

I realized my role in this cosmic drama is to dance to the rhythm of love and nurture the virtue of love. All of 2021 I reveled in its glory.

It was/is my firm belief that painting the world with love would help me do my bit in making the world a better place. Trust me I did myself tremendous favors by this shift in mindset.

Sure there were ups and downs in my journey of painting the world with love. I learned my lessons and evolved stronger. It strengthened my belief that love makes us stronger.

Love and expectations are contradictory. In any relationship expectations are inevitable. There is only one love, unconditional love. It is no love if it seeks return favors.

As I was lost in the reverie of good memories of 2021, I happened to read sweet Trista Signe Ainsworth’s prompt about our wondrous words for 2022.

Without any effort of forceful thinking, two words reverberated in my mind.

No Expectations” and “Setting a boundary”.

I will continue to paint the world with love expecting nothing and setting a boundary.

These two might seem contradictory, let me elaborate.

No Expectation mindset

200 years back Charles Dickens clearly explained in his classic novel Great Expectations that expectations lead to misery.

As Lord Krishna preaches in Bhagwad Gita, Selfless actions. Doing our best and letting the divine take care of the rest. It works. Dancing to this celestial tune transports us to utopia. Selfless actions are most rewarding.

Nothing is lost in time and space and comes back to us eventually. Only don’t expect anything to come back to us.

Peace begins when expectations end ~ Sir Chinmoy

Nature gives us in abundance. Everyone is welcome to indulge in the bounties of nature. It doesn’t expect anything in return. It is all giving and lives in perfect harmony unless and until we cross some boundaries.

Tsunami, earthquakes, pandemics are the repercussions of humankind trespassing the respectable boundaries set by the nature.

Inspired by nature, I plan to continue painting the world with love, with zero expectations, demanding nothing in return but with clearly defined boundaries.

Setting boundaries

I decided to paint the world with love because I love people and believe in the goodness of humanity. I dare to set boundaries because I love myself too. This is the source I derive my courage and fortitude. And I can’t let this love, this source be maligned by anyone else’s annoying interference.

Setting boundaries is a way of caring for oneself. It does not make one mean or selfish. It means that someone wants to develop a healthier environment for themselves and everyone in that ecosystem.

One can be a kind person and still say no without guilt.

I will appreciate people understanding the need for my boundaries. If someone does not, they sure still have my love with no expectations and sturdier boundaries.

Inertia to this change is expected and I am prepared to handle any boundary violations appropriately without losing my cool. I think setting boundaries will help weed out unnecessary situations in the first place and build the foundation of a happy space.

The threshold must not be crossed for anyone. Everyone’s time and energy are valuable to be put to better use than getting bogged down by trespassers.

Trespassers shall not be entertained.

Foot Notes

Law of zero effort

Working with no expectations lets all efforts sprout organically and there is no pressure of proving any point.

Setting boundaries helps us lead an abundant life with zero effort wasted on unnecessary situations later.

Spider’s Story

A spider weaves its web with great expectations to trap other insects in this web. Effortlessly without any limits, it keeps doing so until it gets entangled in its own web and dies unceremoniously. God has created us to lead a much better life than this.

Thanks for reading 😊.
