Stay
Against the rules, love called your name and willingly you came.

Stay until we’ve read all the books and heard all the songs that have been playing since Day One of this strange, misshapen piece of life’s great puzzle. Locked down, we dreamt our way through this, each storm we weathered. Corners lined up neatly; still, the tabs and blanks don’t always fit together.
Stay until the streets are clear of people wearing masks, politely queuing, saying please, carrying their eco-flasks, are they carrying disease? You don’t want anyone to hear your heartbeat rhythmically proclaim; against the rules, love called your name and willingly you came.
Stay until the rain stops and those heavy drops evaporate in a cyclical miracle with no beginning. Hopes and wishes, thoughts keep spinning: if we win the fight, I know it won’t be overnight, but if we’re getting closer to the end… this is just the start for us, my friend.
