Statistics: The Second Baker’s Dozen
Thirteen favorites from my second 100 posts on Medium
After my first 100 posts on Medium, I showcased my favorites from those 100 posts. Since I enjoyed doing it so much, I wanted to do it again, but then focusing on the second set of 100 posts. And, knowing myself, I will continue to do this every time I pass the next hundred mark!
So brace yourselves for thirteen favorites from my second set of 100 posts on this platform!
Some statistics
I love statistics, so I just have to share these numbers with you:
- Of the second set of 100 posts, 60% was fiction (erotic, transgressive and other fiction), 34% was about my life, or other subjects such as money, art, music, 5% in photography, and 1% was an ‘about me’ post.
- Story number 101 appeared on 23 November 2021. Six days short of 4 months later, the 200th story saw the light of day.
- Of the second set of 100 stories posted, Medium distributed 12.
- My best month in earnings was January, where I fell just short of $66.
- I divided the second set of 100 posts between 18 different publications. Of them, 16 went to my personal publication, Serial Stories (I am planning to open this publication to others too), 12 to Tantalizing Tales, and Illumination and MyErotica each got 11. I have also found a home for my transgressive fiction, sharing 8 stories on Redemption.
After this detour into statistics, let’s get on with my second baker’s dozen — the thirteen favorites of my second set of 100 posts on Medium!
Three best performers in fiction
The story with the most views and the most reads is Shared Interests:
The second most views go to More Hands In The Labyrinth, a story which has the third most reads):
Let’s go to the Movies has the third most views, but interesting enough doesn’t feature in the top 10 of most reads:
Three best performers in personal stories
I am very surprised at my top performer here, James Spader, An Infatuation, as this article even has more views than any of my fiction. It’s also fifth on the list with the most reads.
The next article — Heaven And Hallelujah — is way down on the list of views and also on the list of reads, but it qualifies to be mentioned here, as it is second on the list of non-fiction, and it was also chosen for distribution.
This article — Bullet Journal: January & February — has only been published on 8 March, and already it features on this list as the non-fiction one with the third most reads.
Best performer in Photography
I love photography and have a lot more to share of photos made in past years. In the second set of 100 posts on Medium, I shared 5 photography posts, and this was the best performer: Take The Footpath, Not The Highway. I just have a thing with footpaths — they always make me think of life.
Other best performers
As said above, I love statistics, which means I frequently look at other statistics on Medium, such as money earned, read ratio and fans per story.
The post with the most earnings ($20.90) is More Hands In The Labyrinth, which has already been mentioned above. The second best earner is A Tale Of Tantric Massage at $19.70:
The post with the best read ratio is Private Performance with a read ration of 56%:
The post with the most fans is More Hands In The Labyrinth (19 fans) but since it’s already mentioned above, I will highlight the second best performer here — An Exciting Writing Challenge — which has 18 fans:
My personal favorites
On this list, I will share only fiction, because it’s far too difficult to choose articles which deal with personal stuff, even though some of those articles are very close to my heart.
The three stories I want to share today are favorites because of entirely different reasons.
The first — Little Bird — is a ‘small’ story, dealing with grief and new love. It’s a favorite of mine, because of this combination. As they say… life goes on… and that’s what I tried to illustrate in this story.
The next story — Laura’s Christmas — might be difficult for many to read. Therefore, it has a content warning that it contains violent scenes. It’s a story of a woman wanting to live out one of her fantasies for real, and it goes south. Sometimes fantasies have to stay just that… fantasies.
If you want to know how it goes bad, you will have to read the story.
The last of my personal favorites needs a content warning too. This 100-word story — Depraved Orgasm — is classified as transgressive fiction. The inspiration for this piece of writing came from a conversation my husband — an amputee — and I had many years ago.
That brings us to the end
There you have thirteen best performers and favorites from the second 100 posts I have shared on Medium. This post is number 207, so the third set of 100 posts is in the making!
I would love for May More, Posy Churchgate and Paul Mansfield to continue sharing their top posts too!
