Start Building a Mindset That Embraces Change
I was someone who struggled to embrace change for a long time. I tried to live my life with no risk and believed that my plans had to be fulfilled regardless of the winds of life.
However, this put me under much pressure and stress. In this short, I will discuss how I changed my mindset to embrace change
1. There Are No Such Things as Best Practices
Many companies in the world today have things they call “best practices”. Although they are great for setting standards and ensuring good quality, they limit change.
By calling processes or habits the best thing we can do, we are scared to change them. As a result, we are less likely to change those things we have put in place.
Therefore, instead of believing you have best practices or habits, say you have a solution for today. That way, you acknowledge that your solution is great for today, but our changing world may make it bad tomorrow.
2. Take Time to Move Outside Your Comfort Zone
Our comfort zone allows us to avoid the changes in life. We put things in place to live as though we are on a merry-go-round to make our lives comfortable. However, change is not a comfortable experience.
Taking yourself out of your comfort zone every now and then will build the resilience you need to embrace change in a positive way.
