Starbucks Taylor’s Latte Is My New Favorite Latte

Photo by Jess Eddy on Unsplash

I am a very loyal customer at Starbucks, not because they have the best coffee in the world (it can be a hit or miss) but rather because I can sit there for a few hours on my laptop and use their WiFi until I feel like I’ve used it enough. #StarbucksRewardsMemberForLyfe

Yes, I am writing this article at Starbucks because I don’t have WiFi at home. But have you been to a Starbucks recently? If you have, have you noticed how much they have been playing Taylor Swift music? Yeah, it is like non-stop.

I notice it because I literally go to Starbucks at least 4x a week. Don’t worry, I’m not complaining, but I’m going to be completely honest. I’m not a big Taylor Swift fan, and although I do enjoy some of her songs such as “Trouble,” “Shake It Off,” “Look What You Made Me Do,” and “We Are Never Getting Back Together”, you wouldn’t find me at a concert or anything. Not that I wouldn’t go, it’s just that I wouldn’t spend my own money to go. But I’d go if there just so happens to be a ticket that would go to waste, I wouldn’t mind going.

Please don’t hate me; that is just not my scene.

But man, this past week I have listened to Taylor Swift’s music more than I have ever thought I would, and I wondered why.

Coincidence? I Think Not

It was like any other day. I sat in front of my laptop at Starbucks, sipping on my Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew (because you know, there is something very FOMO about pumpkin spice. It is just a very over-hyped seasonal flavor that I get but at the same time don’t get). In my honest opinion, pumpkin spice is alright and When it goes, I won’t miss it that much.

Anyways…

Then a Taylor Swift song came on, one that I didn’t recognize, but after listening to a few of her hits, you kind of know that it’s her. You know what I mean? When that song was over, another Taylor song started blasting, I didn’t know that song either, but I just thought, “Hmmm, what a coincidence.”

In the back of my mind there was something fishy going on.

But then, song after song, it was Taylor Swift, and the barista himself was putting on his own show by singing and dancing to her songs when he should have been taking orders and handing drinks to the highly irritated customers waiting at the other end of the bar.

“Dude! Can’t see the line of impatient customers?”

Not too long after, I realized that this was not a coincidence, and I needed to get to the bottom of this. So I did what most people did to find out what was going on. I immediately turned to “Google”.

“Starbucks Taylor Swift” is what I “Googled”.

Then it all made perfect sense! & What a great marketing tactic…

Not only were they playing her songs non-stop, but they even had a beverage named after her called “Taylor’s Latte” or “Taylor Version.”

I was like, “Wait! Hold up! Are you saying that I could drink Taylor’s Swift’s favorite Starbucks drink?”

“I can order it too?”

YES! YES! YES!

Starbucks/Taylor Swift Collaboration

According to various media sources, this collaboration was propelled to promote Taylor’s Swift’s “Red” Album.

I could have sworn that she had a “Red” album released a few years back (just checked! She did back in 2012) but there was something special about this one. This is apparently “Red (Taylor’s Version).” I really don’t want to talk about the differences between the album because it’s confusing even for me. It has something to do with music/song ownership and how someone screwed Taylor Swift over, and so now she wants to release the same music, so that she can own it.

Something along those lines… but feel free to correct me if I am wrong. Also, feel free to tell me if I am right.

According to Starbucks it just so happens to also be “Red Season,” so it makes excellent sense of this collaboration.

Nothing seems more fitting than drinking from a seasonal Starbucks “Red” cup while blasting music from Taylor’s Swift’s “Red” album.

It’s “Red Season” indeed, and I’m eating it all up…or in this case, drinking it.

Taylor’s Latte — A Caramel Non-fat One

The drink is nothing special. Look it up, and it is just a plain old caramel non-fat latte, which anyone could have to order even before they took the drink and labeled it Taylor’s.

But you know, I had to try it out myself, and boy is this pretty bomb. I’m not a big fan of caramel, nor will I have ever considered non-fat milk, but I did it for Taylor, and boy, was it surprisingly worth it trying out.

Would I get it again? You bet, just as long as I can go up to the Starbucks barista and order, NOT a caramel non-fat latte, BUT “Taylor’s Latte.”

Is it worth $5.95? Nope, but if you are a Starbucks Rewards Member (Wow! I just inserted my referral link into this article) you can accumulate points to earn you free drinks. Including, Taylor’s Latte.

There is just something soo cool about drinking a beverage with a cool name.

But for now I’m going to bask in the Taylor Swift/Starbucks ambiance while I drink this overpriced latte (which is pretty damn good but still overpriced).

After all, it’s “Red” Season, whatever that really means.
