Spread those Golden Wings

As Your Imagination Soars and Sings

Writers are not just people who string words together, they are so much more. All poets, and writers both fiction and non-fiction use their imagination and their creativity to create their work. Every writer begins by choosing a subject that they are interested in writing about. The topic could be factual or it could be a story, article, or poem.

Once a writer has the germ of an idea in his or her mind, they or begin to do research into the topic they have chosen. The writer next begins putting the research bits together like a puzzle. Every piece has a special place and they all come together like a well-designed mosaic.

The writer starts creating the first draft of the manuscript or the poem, article or story. The writer wants to make the literary piece he or she is creating interesting for the reader. If it is a story, the writer wants to get the reader interested in the plot and the characters. If the poet is writing a poem, he or she wants it to resonate with the reader. The writer wants the created poem to be perfect. If you strive for perfection, you will never have the perfect piece of literature.

As the author or writer begins crafting and developing the piece of work, he or she needs to include his or her own unique style in the writing. The writer needs to allow his or her imagination to soar and sing in the work being written.

However, most of us writers, including myself, always worry about what others like our family and friends may think. We also worry that our readers may not like our work. I have noticed that when I think about what the world may think about my writing, it seems to stop me from expressing myself clearly and I start to stumble and fall. I cannot move forward; I get writer’s block. Over the years I have learned that the best way for your ideas, thoughts, imagination, and creativity to flow freely, is to just keep writing.

The best ideas come to you as a writer when you express your thoughts as you receive them from your subconscious mind. By allowing yourself to write freely, you are connecting with the creative genius within your mind, who can provide you with the most amazing and unique ideas. The minute you start thinking about what others will say, you stop yourself from progressing as a writer. As long as you are not writing about topics that will offend people, keep writing and help yourself to evolve as a writer. Spread your golden writer wings, as your imagination soars and sings.
