Spiritual Self-Love:

How to be Good to Yourself (Loving Kindness Meditation)

What Does Self-Love Mean?

Spiritual self-love is all about being good to yourself, learning to be comfortable in your skin; to love, honour, appreciate and accept all of yourself… The “good parts” and the “not-so-good parts.”

It is to smile in the mirror, love your reflection, hug yourself and quietly accept and know that you will get through all difficulties with grace.

Why Do We Struggle With Self-Love?

Most women are so focused on caring and tending to others, we forget to put our needs on the table, we eat last, we say “you go first, I’m OK”, and pick up the groceries on the way home after a demanding day at work (pre-Co-vid 19).

How to Practice Self-Love and Care

What if we didn’t do that?

What if we didn’t put ourselves last and practiced self-love and care?

What if we restructured our day to tend to our needs first, to take the first breath and allow it to fill us up from the inside out, to connect with the goodness within and exhale from a place of fullness rather than exhaustion?

What if we stretched our arms around our heart first, wrapped ourselves up with self-love and then extend a helping hand?

What if we took a stand, found our voice and say Yes to ourselves, and No to doing more?

The power of a rested woman, a woman on a journey of self-love, peace and wholeness for herself and world unity, is a powerful woman.

Self-Love Loving Kindness Meditation

And it starts with that first breath of thanks and gratitude when we wake.

So, today, I gently encourage you to take a stand, recommit to justice and healing of yourself and then take on the world.

I invite you to take a moment to pause and breathe more self-love into your heart and to extend that vibe to love one’s going through a challenging time.

Watch the video below and read the accompanying loving kindness meditation script below to fill your cup and nourish your core.

Here’s a Self-Love Loving Kindness Meditation Script

Take a moment to centre yourself, find your breath and take 3 to 5 gentle breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth.

When you feel settled, check your posture, make sure you are sitting tall, shoulders lowered and chin slightly tucked in.

Quietly say to yourself:

“May I be happy, may I be healthy, may I be well”

Repeat this softly 10 times, allowing the essence of peace to flow through your heart.

Next, bring to mind, a loved one going through a challenging time, hold them in your heart and softly say

“May you be happy, may you be healthy, may you be well.”

Keep sending that vibe and intention for happiness, health and wellness to yourself and loved ones.

And as you go through your day, now and then, take time to pause and remember how beautiful, divine and loving you are.

Thank you for your time and attention.

May you be happy and well.
