Spiritual People Who Think They Know Everything Aren’t Really Getting It
Be aware of where you’re deriving your spiritual lessons from

I recently met a yoga teacher who wanted to talk about all his learnings, but when I opened my mouth to speak about yoga and spirituality, he shut down. He wouldn’t hear it. He walked away in the middle of one of my sentences. He thought he already knew everything! He wanted to preserve his status of being the guru in the group, so he wasn’t open to hearing what anyone else’s spiritual journey was like.
It got me thinking. This was ridiculous because, as spiritual people, we should all be open to hearing out other spiritual people. I suppose there are limits to what you’ll allow yourself to be exposed to, but the very minimum is to just hear the person out. Disagreement and discussion may ensue, and that’s normal.
If you aren’t able to hear another person, then you’re only cheating yourself out of new discoveries.
Just like an atheist rejects any ideas about spirituality and won’t hear of it, some spiritual people reject ideas that are foreign to them. Why would you do this to yourself?
Don’t close your mind. Stay open to new things. You never know where life will take you. Unless you are one hundred percent sure of something — which I think is rare — you shouldn’t overlook it, especially if the universe has put it in your path. There’s always a reason.
Personally, I have changed my mind countless times about spiritual things. For instance, I have always been on the fence about whether crystals do anything. I also didn’t know if I believed in communication with spirits of “deceased” people, as is practiced in mediumship.
Recently, I visited Cassadaga Spiritualist Camp and found that I was drawn to the Spiritualist belief system, which I hadn’t known about before. Imagine if my mind had been closed — I wouldn’t have experienced that treasure of a place!
So, don’t be led down a path of ego. Don’t assume you know everything. If you do this, you will be missing out big time, and also stagnate yourself on your spiritual path where there are limitless possibilities waiting for you.
Why limit yourself when you are limitless?
People who know some things about spirituality but retain their egos aren’t really getting it. They don’t grasp the full picture. Why? Because if they did, they would know that egos and arrogance defeat the purpose of being spiritual.
If you think you know more than everyone else about something, then you shouldn’t be a teacher.
Be wary when you encounter someone who wants to tell you how to live and the best path to spiritual life, but who won’t listen to anyone else. Teaching any subject is better done with humility, but when it comes to spiritual things, it’s a requirement.
My advice is to walk away from such people and let them find their own way.
