Not too long ago, I wanted to uplift a teacher’s spirit, and I decided to invest in some special gift to make her feel special. She celebrated with overflowing joy — I felt her happiness. For me, that was a spiritual kindness investment with God. It wasn’t like I was expecting some return from her. The only return I was expecting was feeling double the happiness in my heart.
God Multiplies Your Investment
Allah Says in The Glorious Quran,
“The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allāh is like a seed [of grain] which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allāh multiplies [His reward] for whom He wills. And Allāh is all-Encompassing and Knowing.” (Surah 2: Al-Albaqarah, Verse 261)
Without the slightest doubt, I knew My Generous God was going to gift me someway. He’s too shy to leave our hands empty.
One of my best friends called me a few nights ago, “Zahra, I need to come to your house to drop some gift I have for you.” At the time of her calling, I was getting ready to head out with the kids to have a mental escape from being in the house for way too long. I told her that she could stop by be after I come back.
The time came for the gift arrival. My friend, Ayesha, handed me a gift for the kids and a small envelope for me. She Said, “Zahra, this gif in the envelope is from someone who gifted it to your family, and they want to remain anonymous.”
I thanked her for her time and everything of kindness she has ever done for us and that God blesses the person who sent me the envelope.
Not going to lie; I love gifts, surprises, and I love showering them to others as well. Anyways I was eager to open the envelope and find out what it was.
I started to count to a thousand dollars yup, $1000 cash for our family! My spiritual investment for the teacher was only less than $100, but God multiplied it for me not just through what I gave but also through other unseen variables that no one can see, feel or touch — internal peace, the new wealth!

I genuinely believe it’s the best form of investment. When you give and serve others for the love of God, whether it’s through your wealth, aid, service, anything that would make a difference in the lives of others — you’ve entered an investment that will produce for you countless blessings beyond what you gave.

The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.s.) said: “To smile in the company of your brother is charity. To command to do good deeds and to prevent others from doing evil is charity. To guide a person in a place where he can not get astray is charity. To remove troublesome things like thorns and bones from the road is charity. To pour water from your jug into the jug of your brother is charity. To guide a person with defective vision is a charity for you.” (Bukhari)
