Spirit Stuff
Increasing Your Reach
Yesterday, I was a writing machine. I wrote two articles, which was a good thing and what I’m trying to do anyway these days. I was also thinking about how productive Abena is, who I just discovered the other day. I had heard about HubPages and was toying with the idea of doing something with them in addition to what I do here at Medium.
I mean, if it results in more than grocery money, that’s a good thing, right? Also, I get more writing done. I watched a video on YouTube that Abena put out about a second profile she had created recently at Medium. She has this method of being super productive that involves the number 33. She showed how, with one subject, to gather up enough ideas to begin the process of writing. Hey, whatever gets you more profitable, I’m in favor of it as long as it doesn’t involve alcohol.
Don’t get me wrong. I love alcohol. It’s just that I can’t imbibe anymore, seeing as how I’m an alcoholic and am 20 years or thereabouts sober.
Then, yesterday evening, I watched an interview with Jason Provencio and Robin Williams which I highly recommend that you watch on YouTube. Jason had written about it in a piece he did a few days ago. Jason and Robin were talking about publications here at Medium, and I began to toy with the idea of having one, too.
So, I’m wondering separate profile or a new publication? That’s what I’m thinking. Tell me if I’m wrong, but I think having a separate profile might involve purchasing a second Medium membership.
Under my current profile, I’ve been writing stories that involve me channeling every once in a while. If you didn’t know about my channeling, it is not Transportation Department work. It is psychic channeling. Basically, I talk to dead guys. When I say dead guys, I just mean that they aren’t in body. I hear voices in my head.
But I enjoy it. I worked hard to make it happen, and as it turns out, many people are already doing it. They just don’t know it. You know what’s funny? It all started after I overdosed on 35 pounds of Stephen King books a long time ago. I wrote him a letter telling him about it. Somebody wrote back and said, “That’s nice.” I still love to read Stephen King.
That is all just background to let you know what’s been on my mind. The thing with Spirit is I can talk to them all the time. I don’t have to get dressed, like you do for work. So, this morning, I was lying in bed just after waking up. I had my legs in the air to help the lymphatic fluids drain from my feet. I have Fred Flintstone feet that are really swollen, prickly, hot, and red at the end of a long day of writing. I have to elevate them before bed and sometimes during the day to get some relief.
I was toying with the idea of having a publication that could be centered around psychic development and channeling. I don’t want it to sound like only people who have found Jesus are allowed or that it is just for Christians. This stuff is for everybody.
You don’t actually have to believe in God to be spiritual. I want it to be a place where folks can have the opportunity to feel the effects of drugs or drinking without actually imbibing. Meditation will do that sometimes. Also, it’s good for writing. But just a place for introspection, spiritual development, and for fun.
The fun part comes in because I am totally irreverent with my guide, Seth, and with the other folk in Spirit I talk to. They are all kind folk, and many times they are hilarious.
I was thinking about a name for the publication that would imply lightheartedness and not serious spiritual study. I thought, “What about Giggles with God?” Seth said, “That’s a different department”.
And so, I began my day.
