Summary

The website content discusses the philosophy of spell casting in poetry, emphasizing the role of empathy, balance, and the belief in kismet over karma, with an example poem provided.

Abstract

The article titled "Spell Bound" delves into the concept of spell making as an art form, akin to poetry, where energy is directed through empathy and balance. It highlights the author's preference for kismet, the belief that all things are predetermined, over karma, suggesting that even karma might make mistakes. The author presents a personal poem that illustrates the use of spells to bind with love and understanding or to confront negativity, leaving the outcome to destiny. The poem, divided into sections of "Sympathy" and "Antipathy," showcases the dual nature of spells, capable of bestowing grace or imploring fate, and reflects the author's worldview on the inherent balance of the universe.

Opinions

  • The author has a strong belief in the concept of karma but acknowledges its potential fallibility, preferring to trust in kismet.
  • Spell making is seen as a deliberate and nuanced practice, requiring empathy and a sense of balance to be effective.
  • The poem's content suggests that the author values support and grace for those who have shown kindness, while also recognizing the need to confront and neutralize negative forces.
  • The use of imagery in the poem, such as honeysuckle and evergreen vines for positive spells and twine and ice for negative ones, indicates a connection between nature and the power of spells.
  • The author seems to advocate for a fair universe where destiny, aligned with kismet, ultimately decides the fate of individuals based on their actions.

Spell Bound

Spells must be channelled via empathy and be balanced

I have an inherent belief in karma. The idea behind this concept is a positive one.

What ever you put out in this world will be returned to you.

Kismet is a little different as it states all things are predetermined.

My poem is a kind of spell which calls upon kismet to decide the outcome. Why not karma? Well, I always want to give a person the benefit of the doubt. And perhaps even karma gets it wrong at times? Kismet will align with destiny.

Spell making is the art of identifying, raising, and directing your energy.

Allure

Often spells are cast under a new moon as this is thought to increase the surrounding energy.

Spells must be channelled via empathy and most importantly be balanced. Always remembering to sprinkle in some love and understanding. Here is an example of a —Comme ci, comme ça — spell I wrote not so long ago.

Sympathy…

For those that held my hand in the dark of the night

when stars were dimmed and shadows great

I bind you with honeysuckle and evergreen vines

bestowing moments of grace

supporting you — within.

Antipathy…

For those with twisted minds and twisted words

who stood under the light casting shadows in the night

I lash you with twine and chill you with ice

imploring kismet to decide

your fate — without.
