Speed Reading Is Not What You Need. There’s A Better Method.
The promise of reading ten times faster with speed reading sounds tempting. But the method is not only questionable but also time-consuming to learn.
We all have nowadays to process more information in less time than in the past. Speed Reading tries to answer this problem, but I personally don’t like the idea of rushing through a text like a race track.
Nevertheless, in the professional field, it is not an option to read every book from front to back at average reading speed. For a standard term paper at the university, several publications have to be evaluated. The more professional the demands become, the more books we have to evaluate.
Instead of trying to scan texts with our eyes like a computer, we should concentrate on well-known methods. I learned about such a technique at the university, and I still use it today.
Read all about it in my article You don’t need a speedreading class. Concentrate on rational reading instead.
