Speaking of Rice

What to mix with it

What are you going to cook tonight?

Do you even plan to cook tonight?

You may have a plan already: going out with your friends, colleagues, or Uber Eats.

I have been enjoying eating rice for a long time.

Yeah, for decades.

It’s yummy.

I can eat it with just an egg after adding several condiments.

It’s yummy.

I can easily make fried rice in the microwave. It’s easy. Put rice in a bowl, an egg (for one serving), salt or soy sauce, and black pepper, then pour the cooking oil on top. I usually use olive oil or sesame oil. Mix well, microwave for one minute or so, and mix well again, letting the steam out. There I have it, a bowl of simple and easy plus tasty rice.

It’s yummy.

I can decorate rice with some leftover or fresh vegetables with or without meat on top of it.

The secret of serving yummy cooked rice is adding a little salt, fresh grounded black pepper, and a small amount of sesame oil. If I run out of sesame oil, olive oil will do.

Recently I had fun making rice balls. So tasty!

Here is a photo of it.

There are so many ways I can be creative with it.

Recently I tried this.

Potatoes and Rice (one serving)

  • Microwaved sliced 1/2 potatoes and some chopped onions for a few minutes
  • Added milk, a good pinch of salt, and black pepper
  • Put it back and microwaved again until the potatoes are softened
  • I ate a few bites to make sure the potatoes are yum
  • I added a few small scoops of rice. I mixed them in the bowl and warmed them up.

The result of it was another easy and yummy rice bowl for a meal.

Like trying something new with the simple white one in my cooking, I can write something different in a blank space.

I have been trying this and that with the image creation.

Here is the most recent one for finding differences between the two images.

I created the images based on the previous one and made changes. Seeing the different color combinations, sprouting ideas from one point to another, and placing objects in slightly different locations and angles; all of these are the process of making a new one. It made me feel creating images is a mental exercise with some tedious work involved sometimes.

I guess cooking not only coincides with image creation but also writing.

I can try making a completely different piece of work, writing about FOODS one day and about LEARNING the next day. Or, I can pull out my old work about FOODS or anything. Then I can add, modify, and deduct it.

I may end up singing a lullaby for my readers.

Or, I can try to entertain a little; whether or not it turns out to be a successful one is another story.

Take Away from this Article

I use my love for eating and cooking as an example, using rice to make yummy bowls. It is how I create images these days.

I can apply it in my writing as well.
