A note for a better today and tomorrow

Sparkling Joys And Little Happiness

of my everyday life, during this time

Fellow writer Trista Ainsworth inspired me to write this piece as a challenge. So, I’m writing this note to share the things that bring me joy in my daily life.

As we all are experiencing, this time is molding us either tough or more vulnerable, mentally, and physically.

For the first few weeks, I was terrified and was holding onto every news, every article, and every information from all sorts of media. But these attentions to report made me more vulnerable and stressful.

So, for the last few weeks, I have omitted the news channel entirely and holding off from my social media (apart from sharing my writing).

I have done myself a favor of not consuming the negatives and live by ‘as it goes’ strategy.

Surprisingly, I found out that little things and beings can cheer you and can take you to a different altitude of happiness. And, probably, you don’t need to depend on bigger things to make yourself happy.

Yes, we all have heard about the philosophical quotes of making yourself happy by experiencing small little things in your life. But experiencing it on a massive scale during this lockdown is an entirely different aspect.

I find myself relaxed in walking. I am not a deep sleeper, so every day in the morning, I go for a walk in the neighborhood, when nobody is wake up yet. I find it calm and peaceful to walk and see the small little things around.

Like, squirrels in my neighborhood are pretty funny, as they run around everywhere and grab little things to chew (I know, pretty standard, right. But after childhood, I wasn’t looking into these things).

I see a small little part of reserve land just outside the road in its greenery. I hear the sound of wind breeze; I observe the sunlight peeping through the trees on my walk. I am glad to take the morning walk every day to feel merged with nature.

Flowers and trees are two of my favorites. And as the summer-time is nearby, I see more colors around my neighborhood. Whenever I get the chance, I take photos if the colors are there to fill me up with their hues. The following are a couple of pictures taken today in front of our residence.

I’m not going to mention about writing in detail, because I started writing on Medium to express my views in words. And till now, I’m enjoying it to the fullest.

I like reading books. Even if there is nothing to cheer me up, a book (a good one, of course) will suffice my need to refresh. Apart from Medium and the book I have already started reading (‘Aria’ by Nazanine Hozar), I am listening to Audible (to give it a try). And, after seeing the Netflix documentary ‘BECOMING,’ I’m currently listening to ‘BECOMING,’ narrated by Michelle Obama.

I have a PS4 Pro, remaining IDLE at this time (as nobody is here to play FIFA), but I am fond of the mobile version of ‘Injustice-2’ (DCU games). Following is the official link of the game:

As my parents & siblings are living in a different country (Bangladesh), I’m connecting with them on video calls, and that connection makes me relaxed and cheerful. As they are still safe and doing okay, that relieves me from the day’s tension. Their faces, their tones, and their laughter help me to calm down and pass the day in joy.

Last (but not least) mention should be spending time with my spouse. Listening to her about diversified day-to-day topics is refreshing. She has so many exciting topics to talk about that sometimes I forget what we were talking about. So fascinating to hear from her after a long work-day (and relieving to seeing her coming back from work, as she has to go to her office as part of essential services).

So, these are the things that are cheering me up and are holding up my spirit.

What’s yours?

Thank you Trista Ainsworth for mentioning my name for the challenge. Following is the story-link of her article.
