Spark
A poem

Ignition — in a split second a new idea arisen, creativity running rampant, the “pop” of a “what-if” thought bubble appearing atop.
Burn — brighter than ever before down the rabbit hole of a new, niche interest — spend 30 hours reading up on Russian skating drama? learn an entirely new alphabet because of the beauty and balance of an intentionally designed hangeul? these fires burn bright and hot, at full force as if it will never stop.
Fizzle — as the promise of eternity is a lie, the shininess of novelty wears off as quick as it appeared, burying old topics, old interests, old hobbies before the blink of an eye.
Reignition — and as if never happened before a new spark arrives newer and shinier than ever before yielding forward momentum towards burn, fizzle, reignition.
What is your spark? you may ask, and maybe you will receive one answer representing one panel in one dimension of time… missing the revolving cycle of re-ignition.
Lucy (The Eggcademic) [she/her]’s hobby is arguably finding a new hobby, or perhaps novelty itself. This isn’t because any single hobby she’s tried isn’t cool and interesting, but because her mind is already 9 steps ahead, ready to ask the next what if and try the next new craft. Thank you to Aimée Gramblin for January’s writing prompt!
