Abstract

ce in networking so I knew it was going to be a struggle, but I dove right in. You can see the progress on <a href="https://github.com/topsoftrees">my GitHub</a>. This struggle led to my six month journey.</p><figure id="57c6"><img src="https://cdn-images-1.readmedium.com/v2/resize:fit:800/0*KByjZCW_ZwT6VViN"><figcaption>Photo by <a href="https://unsplash.com/es/@neonbrand?utm_source=medium&amp;utm_medium=referral">Kenny Eliason</a> on <a href="https://unsplash.com?utm_source=medium&amp;utm_medium=referral">Unsplash</a></figcaption></figure><p id="fd25">This project began on May 31, 2022. I set a deadline of six months to hone my skills, document my journey, put myself out there, and get a job. I grabbed a piece of paper, a pen, and started to write:</p><p id="a258"><i>My goal:</i></p><ul><li><i>Get a cybersecurity job by December 4, 2022.</i></li></ul><p id="4738"><i>How am I going to do this?</i></p><ul><li><i>Work on homelab</i></li><li><i>Document journey in GitHub</i></li><li><i>Expand on existing knowledge</i></li><li><i>Progress everyday — plan ahead</i></li><li><i>Plan work for the week</i></li><li><i>Write weekly reviews</i></li><li><i>Study tools my company uses</i></li><li><i>Study tools of other companies</i></li><li><i>Review Anki daily</i></li><li><i>Work on LinkedIn page</i></li><li><i>Put myself out there</i></li><li><i>Continuously work on resume and cover letter</i></li><li><i>Work hard in existing job — ask manager how I can improve</i></li></ul><p id="f9c7"><i>What are skills I’m going to learn?</i></p><ul><li><i>Understand the incident response process</i></li><li><i>Understand logs and correlate events</i></l

Spanish Odyssey

Centuries Old Segovian Aqueducts By Randy Shingler

Remembering my last year’s month in Spain As I strode through history’s past centuries Creative architectural styles of different periods, With their artfully constructed Plaza Mayors Filled in celebrations with native Spanish cafes.

Madrid, Valencia and Catalonia Barcelona Diversity in reflections of colorful cultures Distinctive native characters of their own, Sensory observations in Madrid’s Gran Via Guitarists, opera singers, a street symphony.

Valencia’s signature paella and ceramic tiles Artisans’ creations enduring through time, Catalonia Barcelona on Mediterranean shore Catholic history is still present in Cathedrals More recent in Basilica de La Sagrada Familia.

Zaragoza, Segovia and Old Town Salamanca Zaragoza, hidden Spanish treasure often ignored Culture of centuries formed by diverse tribes, Segovia’s ancient stone aqueducts still stand tall Iberian past seen in old towers and twisted spires.

Salamanca, cultural center of literature, art and poetry Universidad de Salamanca, learning center since 1130, Salamanca’s old town, living monument to past glories Romans, Visigoths, Moors: conquerors enriched its culture Leaving architectural styles with their own period’s identity.

Odyssey ends in Southern Spain, Sevilla, Cordoba and Toledo, Sevilla considered by many the most genuine Spanish city Old neighborhood buildings still reflect diverse ancient cultures, Carefree citizens, centuries traditions of many colorful fiestas Bohemian avant-garde cafes and creative artistic expressions.

Cordoba’s culture from Romans, Muslims, Christians and Jews Andalusian Flamenco, a developed native artistry of Cordoba Roman Bridge Gate at historical center guards old Cordoba, Toledo located in Castile La Mancha known as “Imperial City Many cultures with a panoramic view of Spanish countryside.

Heartfelt warmth from the affection of the Spanish people Celebrations at any moment’s notice and enjoyment of life Never in a hurry but always time to be courteous and kind, Odyssey of Spain was a celebratory vibrant renewal of life.
