Summary

The website content features a poetry prompt inspired by Allen Ginsberg's work, inviting writers to incorporate Ginsberg's quotes into their own pieces, with a focus on the theme of repetition and the use of Scrittura writing techniques.

Abstract

The undefined website presents a creative challenge for poets and writers, asking them to craft works that echo the style and themes of Allen Ginsberg, a prominent figure in the Beat Generation. The prompt, titled "10 April 2021 Saturday Poetry Prompt: repeatable," encourages the use of repetition and references to Ginsberg's poetry, specifically asking participants to credit Ginsberg's work properly. The prompt is a follow-up to a previous challenge that also involved the use of quotes, but with a broader selection of Scrittura writers. The page includes a visually evocative image, a quote from Ginsberg's "The Names," and a list of contributing writers who have responded to the prompt. J.D. Harms, the prompt's creator, expresses admiration for the responses to the previous challenge and emphasizes the importance of creative repetition in this iteration.

God but I loved his murdered face when he talked with a mouthful of rain in 14th St subway — Ginsberg, “The Names”

A solid knuckle to the head sounds stringy star-like, passive relationships as the crack on the floor when you hid

A cut out of colour and vice removed from the cardboard laxity of the revenged silence while keys tap to the rhythm of breathing

Relented and willing to place your most valuable letters against the grain of the song that keeps running

The enthymeme gathers force and comes to omit another gathering while fate goes on denying it had anything to do with it

I was so unbelievably charmed by the responses to the “say that again” prompt, that I had to run something similar. Forgive me if you feel like I’m not exercising my creative muscles, but just go look at the pieces replying to that one. My defense stands! The difference, however, is that last time I asked you to select Scrittura writers to bring your quotes from. This time, I am specifically asking for quotes from Allen Ginsberg. (If you can’t stomach him, sorry about that. There will be other prompts!) Please remember to give proper credit (name, i.e., Ginsberg, and title of the poem you are citing; also, poems get quotation marks, not italics). Tag me in it (@j-d-harms). Keep rocking that stellar material!!
