Summary

The author proposes an innovative solution to combat global warming by introducing an "8th-day" to the calendar, providing a weekly day of rest for the planet.

Abstract

In this article, the author expresses their dismay at the lack of meaningful action taken by world leaders to address global warming, despite the opportunity presented by the Covid-19 pandemic. They note that while the pandemic resulted in a temporary reduction in emissions, it was not enough to reverse global warming. The author presents a straightforward solution to the problem: adding an 8th-day to the calendar, during which all human activity would cease. This "8th-day solution" would have an immediate impact on reducing emissions and reversing global warming. The author argues that this solution is a win-win for everyone, as it would not require significant changes to daily life and would start working as soon as it is implemented.

Opinions

  • The author believes that the lack of action taken by world leaders to address global warming is a catastrophe.
  • The author suggests that politicians are unwilling to implement meaningful solutions to global warming due to their ties to industrial groups and their desire to protect the wealthy.
  • The author argues that the only solution to global warming is to add an 8th-day to the calendar, during which all human activity would cease.

  • The author argues that this solution is a win-win for everyone, as it would not require significant changes to daily life and would start working as soon as it is implemented.
  • The author suggests that the Covid-19 pandemic demonstrated the effectiveness of this solution, as emissions dropped dramatically during lockdowns.
  • The author believes that the 8th-day solution should be implemented immediately to reverse global warming.

Sorry, I’m A Little Too Late….

My Celebrating Of The Hottest Year On Earth Was Kind Of Hard To Swallow.

We don’t need more deserts or behaviour that make them grow. This Photo by Karim MANJRA on Unsplash symbolizes my point of view.

I can’t say 2020 was an ongoing party, and I am quite sure most of you could agree about this résumé. Really I would say it was a catastrophe — not only because of Covid-19 — but mostly because it is so hard for the world leaders to take action against the ongoing global warming. The opportunity the pandemic gave us to start all over again was not taken — thanks to unwilling politicians and their need to protect the greedy superrich and all wannabes.

Though the virus forced us to take a few days off in our contribution to the devastating emissions to air — when air traffic and factories closed down at the beginning of the pandemic — it still ain’t enough to reverse the global warming.

2020 was the hottest year so far on planet Earth.

There is only one solution to reverse global warming that starts working immediately. You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to understand how to stop this ongoing devastating process. Normal people know very well what’s going on, but our leaders have no will to come up with solutions that will start the process now. Instead, they introduce solutions based on lobbying from industrial groups and all their lies to continue making money on outdated technology.

The Covid-19 pandemic introduced us to quarantine last year. I introduced the 8th-day solution to the world. Little did I know how the happening of this pandemic should show us how my idea was working on a daily basis. Emissions to air dropped dramatically and for the first time in decades people living in megacities around the world could see the blue sky again.

The only solution to stop the ongoing global warming is to add a new day on the calendar every week — stop the world — and do nothing on this day. This 8th-day solution will start working immediately when the goal is to stop global warming. We can measure the changes next week if we start today.

When this decade is over we can cross out 2030 on the calendar. Then the whole world can look forward against 2040 and 2050 without any doubt about if our planet will survive human activity or not.

The 8th-day solution is a win-win for everyone and will start working next week if implemented today.
