Song/Poem of the Day — My Reflection

I see my reflection in the puddle of water at my feet My dirty face, matted hair, and tattered clothes look back at me The holes in my shoes make my feet wet I’m a long ways from home and my real reflection
A life so long ago, the big house and parade of fancy cars I woke to children laughing and a smile from the love of my life The surface of light with no brightness only darkness absorbed No more reflection of me
My reflection is between two lives Only in my mind I move back and forth from where I came from Memories cast a shadow on my soul A life once lived mirrored back at me
I look away in search of light I see I’ve lead myself here in my cardboard house Parade of fancy cars drive by where I sleep In the window I see my reflection
Had I seen my reflection what consideration would I had given my life What would be the colours seen by the reflection of my light Would there have been a change in direction of a single wave No reflection of the heart such a common mistake
The essence of my true reflection hangs on My choices were strong My choices were wrong But the essence of my true reflection hangs on
My reflection hangs on
