Somewhere Between What Is and What Will Be
You will find hope
The sprinter trains in hopes that he will race and win… A rough track, falls, and scraped shins.
The young man hopes he is not wrong. Will his girl say “yes” to his wedding song?
Hope is between what is and what will be. Only true hope is a surety.
It is intertwined with integrity, principles, and respect for life. True hope is a special kind.
Beware though of false hope, leading nowhere into a black hole.

As mentioned in this poem, there are different kinds of hope. Hope can be short-term or long-term. Some things hoped for are frivolous while other things hoped for are much more serious in nature.
The question that Dan Catalin asks in his prompt is…would you still fight if you knew you would be saved in the end? Such a question is worthy of consideration.
I would say, “yes.” Let’s say you are in a critical auto accident in need of immediate medical care. It is a life or death situation. As you hear the sirens approach, you know for sure the ambulance is seconds away. Do you stop fighting knowing you will be saved? The answer is “no.” You continue to fight and hang on knowing you will be rescued.
Here is another scenario. If a teacher automatically gave you all “A’s” and you never picked up a book or studied, of what benefit would the grades be? Only by putting in the hard work of studying would you have learned anything to apply in your life. Such grades would be meaningless.
In short, hard work and determination lay the groundwork for structure and the building of knowledge that you can apply in your life. Your life experiences make you who you are along with your struggles and your wins. This fight is the big thing called “life.”
Thank you for reading. Encourage one person today with your smile.

“If you knew you’d be saved in the end, would you still fight?”
