“Some Things Are More Important Than Living”
Join Texas Lt. Gov Dan Patrick’s death cult, where women aren’t actual people, so they don’t count (old black women least of all)
Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick wants you to join his death cult. After all, as he has publicly said, “There are more important things than living.” You will know that you are a fully indoctrinated member of this cult if you’ve gone into complete cognitive dissonance about the other things that it publicly stands for. Human beings with families and lives don’t count for anything meaningful, and if they are female or black, they count for even less.
- Unborn fetuses who can’t survive on their own outside the womb deserve life and the women who try to prevent that deserve jail even though Some things are more important than living!
The reasons most frequently cited (for women seeking abortions) were that having a child would interfere with a woman’s education, work or ability to care for dependents (74%); that she could not afford a baby now (73%); and that she did not want to be a single mother or was having relationship problems (48%). Nearly four in 10 women said they had completed their childbearing, and almost one-third were not ready to have a child.
This is what Dan Patrick has to say about abortion rights: “ We talked about the choice, you ask us, well don’t we put ourselves in the place of the woman and her choice, what choice does the baby have? Who speaks for the baby? Do you think if the mother had a conversation with the baby and said, “You know, this just isn’t really convenient to give birth to you right now, do you mind dying?”
Patrick has no problem asking grown people (not just potential people) who have families, and those who already love and depend on them if they mind dying, however. He’s assuming that only old people die of this virus, and although they do make up the bulk of the fatalities, plenty of younger people die as well. Blacks also die in disproportionate numbers, but they aren’t very important either, so ….
- Pretty much anyone who wants one can buy just about any kind of gun they want with little or no screening and no proof that they know how to store and handle their weapon(s) safely. Their need to be able to protect themselves and their families is too important even though Some things are more important than living!
There were 39,444 gun deaths in the United States in 2019; 24,090 of these were suicides. Only 1,580 were in defensive use. 15,354 were homicides/murders/ unintentional.
Women in the United States are 21 times more likely to be murdered with a gun than women in other high-income countries.
Are you starting to notice a pattern here?
- Personal accountability and responsibility is article #5 in the Texas Republican platform. Making sure that you don’t unintentionally infect someone else with a potentially deadly disease doesn’t count, though, because Some things are more important than living!
If you would like to join Dan Patrick’s death cult, all you need do is to keep repeating the mantra, Some things are more important than living! but to also recognize that this does not apply to you or your life. It only applies to other people who are not worth much anyhow, so it’s no great loss if they die.
Once you are fully indoctrinated, Dan Patrick will send you a secret decoder ring and the address of where to mail your monthly tithe. You will feel both invincible and smug because you will no longer be bothered with pesky things like conscience or reason. As he will be happy to tell you, so far Texas has only had 500 deaths out of a population of 29 million, and those people sacrificed their lives willingly for the greater good. Texas has also only conducted 169,536 coronavirus tests (and people are most contagious in the 24–48 hours before they show symptoms), so we don’t yet know how many people who are asymptomatic carriers are out there, but that’s a minor technicality.
Across the US, if states try to open up too soon, infections and death rates will continue to climb.
The documents do not spell out how many deaths the new, higher fatality rate would lead to in the “best guess” scenario. But a simple calculation by Public Integrity shows it would be more than 600,000.
By point of reference, 407,000 Americans died in all of WWII. Texas may have briefly been its own republic but what happens there will ripple into neighboring states and the United States as a whole. No state or municipality is an island and contagion will continue to spread in the places where restrictions have been lifted too soon.
Please do not join Dan Patrick’s death cult, where life has no sanctity and only money is important. People who are out of work and suffering need to be supported and helped but being willing to needlessly sacrifice other people’s lives for something intangible like economic security is what sociopaths advocate for. And make no mistake — if you are willing to throw other people’s lives away because they don’t really matter like Dan Patrick, you are a sociopath!
