Pick Your Peril: The Hero of Mudtown

The Stoneville Tavern is home to many prospective accomplices. Now that you’ve made some money, it should be a lot easier to convince someone to join your quest for the missing villagers.
There has to be at least one patron that’s willing to work for some coin!
The Mercenary is posted up in his usual spot, lounging at a table and laughing with some rough-looking men and a few expectant wenches. Trading your bag of coins for his services should be the most uncomplicated thing you’ve done since you left Mudtown.
The Blacksmith reads a book by the window, alone in his thoughts. If no one else is willing to help, maybe you could purchase some equipment for yourself. You have no immediate need for armor or a weapon, but having some extra protection couldn’t hurt.
A man advertising himself as ‘The Merchant of Mystery’ has his wares spread out on a large table near the entrance. An exquisite lute immediately catches your eye, but there are many other alluring trinkets on display. Perhaps a special item is what you need to complete your quest.
A fortune teller sits in a corner of the Tavern, taking money from some impressionable townsfolk in exchange for a few whispered clues about their fate. It’s doubtful that she has anything helpful to tell you, but it could be worth hearing what she has to say if you’re truly desperate.
You’re willing to give up all the money you’ve earned if it means finding your family, you only to need to find the right candidate to receive your coin.
