Some Thoughts Sound More Like Sour Grapes

We can be positive or negative. We each make our own decisions.

If permitted, I’d like to wade into a discussion started by Tom Kuegler in a story titled I Used to Hate Illumination, But Now I Weirdly Appreciate Them.

I’ve highlighted Tom’s article to give you a chance to do a little background investigation so you can form your own opinion of what’s said.

I suggest you read Gerald's (@The Sturg) and @Dr Mehmetyildiz’s responses and decide for yourself.

In full disclosure, I must tell you I use several of ILLUMINATION’s pubs to distribute my work. I have found the ILLUMINATION team helpful, professional, a valuable resource as I publish on Medium, and a joy to work alongside.

Unfortunately, many, if not all, of our social platforms are not very sociable. There are stories on Medium that, once I notice unpleasantries, I leave unread. There are people who believe they can say anything they want about anybody, any place, anything, or any idea.

Don’t get me wrong, I believe in free speech and people’s right to think whatever they want.

However, I don’t think I have the right to say whatever I’m thinking just because I don’t like the job someone is doing.

It’s unfortunate some people relish tearing down others they disagree with thinking; somehow, that betters their position. I hope that attitude changes in the future if our social platforms are to survive.

I’ve decided not to recall Tom’s thoughts here because I don’t believe name-calling or negativity elevates a constructive discussion.

At first blush, Tom’s decision to run his publication and forget about ILLUMINATION seems easy. If I disagreed with what ILLUMINATION publishes or its editorial policies, I’d simply look for another publication. Why bash another’s person’s job because I don’t like what they’re doing?

Sad to say, Tom’s story will get lots of press on social platforms because it’s negative; it belittles someone or something, and stories like that get legs.
