Some of the Best Articles I Read This Week (#5)

My top picks from my recent Medium reading

Photo by Alexander Andrews on Unsplash

Here I am with another weekly selection of my favorite articles from Medium. You can see my previous selection here.

Recently I’ve been finding more and more articles that I’ve enjoyed (perhaps the algorithms have finally figured me out, lol). I made a few lists to start keeping track of them, including:

I think I need more such lists… I might not be able to find all the cool stuff that I’ve read in the past, but going forward, it will help to avoid losing track of some useful perspectives!

Anyway, here are my best finds from the last week or so…

First, I’m very interested in self-improvement and habits. Ami gives a great summary of how valuable habits can be, and advises tackling one new habit at a time:

Ironically, I intend to post these ‘weekly choice’ articles once a week, and it keeps ending up as more like 10 or 15 days. Clearly I need to build a new habit!

On a related point, Ayodeji Awosika talks about how important it is for writers to get some momentum and keep going. At some point, he thinks, you have gone too far to stop:

Everyone wants writing to be fun, but in this article, Martina D. gives us a hard truth — there are certain skills you have to tackle if you want to be successful:

I really like Linda Ng’s writing, and this piece is a great rundown of what not to do when you’re blogging:

Another writer whose work in enjoy is Ira Robinson. Here, he brilliantly explains how you can be getting more out of your blogging ideas by writing several different styles of article.

And to follow the theme about blogging and habits, this article by Winston provides a brilliant explanation of why patience is more important than rapid progress:

Finally, a shoutout to the last five people to clap for my stories: Humayan Kabir Shagor, Jerikho Jordan, robert porter, Roberto Swift and Mila ben. Thanks all!
