Some of My Life’s Mysteries — Everything Fun
Sometimes life places us where we should be, not where we want to be, giving us fun we couldn’t dream of.

Talking to someone about mysteries and I realized that every life has a mystery that sometimes will remain unanswered.
Here is one of mine.
I met my husband when I was 14, walking through St. William Grant Park in downtown Kingston. Because of where I lived, I had to take two buses to and from school. That day, I took the correct #55 bus from school, which changed its route for some reason. I don’t know why. It took me downtown, and I got lost.
I asked someone for directions, and they instructed me to take the shortcut through the park. The bus to take me home was parked across the street, facing one of four entrances to the park.
This handsome guy appeared from nowhere and held onto my hand. I don’t like men touching me. I told him what I always tell males, so they will leave me alone. He told me where he would be, and I promised to come by.
I didn’t.
In those days, manners, respect, ethics, and morals had value.
I was fourteen years old with many problems and dreams no one was going to take away from me. Boys were the last thing on my mind.
Would you believe that I lived eight minutes’ walk up the road from downtown, where I got lost and didn’t know? The bus took me home in about three minutes after making four stops and stopping at four red lights.
Come on. I wasn’t dumb. I was in the process of becoming an introvert. I didn’t like going out then, and I still don’t.
My life changed, pushing my dreams back, and I met him again two years later. He used the same approach I didn’t like. He touched me. I sold him the same story I did before.
My life changed two years later again, and my dreams were now out of my reach.
In my culture, we believe that the number three is death. So we are encouraged not to let anything negative rise to stage three.
Lol. Jamaicans are weird people.
In my third meeting, I couldn’t escape. Life handed me another blow that placed me in his hand. I had classes in the area he lived, so I was there five days per week.
After thirty-eight years of togetherness and thirty-four years of marriage, I got the answer to this mystery. I love where my life is and am able to see and chose where it goes. Not many humans can do that. I have life choices I didn’t have when I was younger with the wisdom, knowledge, and understanding to make better decisions.
What do you think?
Sometimes life places us where we should be, not where we want to be, giving us something we couldn’t dream of.
I still wonder, “why did life do this to me and for me?’
He is the opposite of me, like night and day. Drives me crazy and gets on my damn nerves.
No, I have no regrets because my life is the stuff dreams are made of. Many people around me told me they wanted my life. It’s been a good one, and he has the most beautiful heart that matches mine.
I am nuts; I still ask questions I already know the answer to.
“Who decides who wins and who loses?
My actions, choices, and decisions did. Humans are more in control of their fate and life than many are willing to agree.
This is one mystery I think I have the answer to this one. There are many more I don’t have the answer to.
What are the mysteries to your life that you want answers for?
