Some Birthdays Are Extra Special
They deserve a special something
Birthdays, whether yours or your loved ones, always bring a smile on your face. It fills your heart with happiness and positivity.
Just the idea of celebrating the day you were born gives you butterflies.
Even if it’s your enemies’ birthday, that smile that shines on your face when you wish them is not fake at all. You mean it. (For that moment at least)
As we age, we get lesser and less excited about the whole concept of birthdays because we connect it with getting a year old.
But you should really observe and learn from children how excited they are for their birthdays.
For them it’s all about love, laughter, and celebration.
And today is the birthday of a person who is my best friend’s son who will turn 12 today his name is Raj.
It would not be a cliche to say he’s literally the apple of everyone’s eye. He’s smart, talented, passionate, and totally a mama’s boy. He loves laughter and everything related to it.
And because he’s so special, I made him a little birthday card.
It’s been almost a decade since I made a card for someone so you can imagine how special he is to me.
I also wrote him a small letter which he is mature enough to appreciate. Here goes,
By the way, he calls me Anna. It’s just a nickname very popular in South of India especially for people who are restaurant owners.
I never understood how he derived that nickname for me but the way he calls it, I feel it was meant to be for me.
I am his cool fun aunt and watching him grow up into this smart and humble person is as close to motherhood I can get without becoming a mother.
May he have many more amazing birthdays to come? As I said earlier, some Birthdays are extra special and they deserve something special like this story I wrote dedicated just for him.
Bhavnaa Narula, 2023. Thank you so much for your time and love.
