Solstice Turning

Veiled in velvet darkness, you step over the threshold
To shed past selves, behind you, layers of bitter-sweet leavings
One season passing, uncertain, into the arms of another
Unwrapping farewells
Trying not to look back, so long
Shepherding small sorrows, grateful grief
You must let go if you wish to arrive
Not knowing, how another season will greet you
When all you have, is no more or less
Than matchstick plans
Betwixt and between your selves
Rising. Remember. Seasons have returned you before.
Into someone new, Beloved
Now. Striking the path of most resistance
A threadbare spark, alighting
Hands cupped, upholding you
Into regeneration
