Social Media Reacts to America’s 230-Pound Weight Loss

The United States of “America” America, 244, debuted her transformed body on multiple media platforms Saturday. While many applauded the representative democracy on her svelte new form, some on social media worried America was promoting dangerous, outdated standards of government body types. Commenters on Twitter questioned whether discussing a country’s size was ever appropriate.

America quickly responded to the controversy with the following statement on her Instagram.

“I believe in body neutrality. Whatever our size, we should all be comfortable, confident, and accepted. My weight loss was never about looking a certain way; it was about improving my health.

In late 2016, my doctors noticed a large sebaceous mass near my heart and warned me that I would have to make serious lifestyle changes to correct it. The growth was obstructing circulation to my extremities, organs, and brain, putting my life in danger and impairing my decision making. My apologies for anyone I hurt during that time.

While I didn’t immediately heed my doctor’s advice, it did cause me to reflect on my centuries-long toxic relationship with food and how it may have contributed to my health problems. At some point, you have to look in the mirror and ask yourself: how many cans of Duncan Hines Home-Style Creamy Frosting should anyone eat in a day without cake? That’s when I started to focus on my emotional eating and addressing the root causes of my self-destructive behavior.

It’s been an uphill battle, but I’m happy to report that I have almost rid myself of the 230-pound malignant lipoma. I am committed to making sure it doesn’t come back by adopting an aggressive self-care routine that focuses on healing every region of my body, not just my Blue Wall. Special thanks to my Wellness Coach Stacey Abrams.

Unfortunately, doctors don’t think I will ever get feeling back in my Florida. We can’t win them all, Stacey! LOL!

I want to thank all my fans and citizens for their support and for never giving up on me. Because of you, I could live another 244 years.”
