So it didn’t happen… Follow up story

AI generated designer’s desk

I pondered whether I should edit my previous story or if I should write a separate follow up.

Find my previous story about becoming a Cricut or Silhouette Contributing Artist here.

I waited for the disappointment to dissipate and to get a clearer picture of what I wanted to share. If anything. While I wait for Cricut’s response, Silhouette declined my application.

I have learned in this life, that making goals, lists, and plans, do not pan out for me. Or if they do, never in the way anticipated. That doesn’t mean that I won’t still do these things; I just don’t invest the energy that other people do. While making plans works fantastic for others, it doesn’t for me.

I had high hopes, visualizing myself submitting new designs every week for others to enjoy and create beautiful gifts with. Nurturing my artist’s heart who just wanted to be an artist for a living, and not another cog in the machine little valued by the companies they work for. But alas, it looks like I will be that cog for a little while longer.

Cricut currently has a waitlist so I may not know for an extensive period regarding that application.

So what do I do now? Well it doesn’t change much. I will continue what I started. Honing my skills, creating SVGs that I sell online through my blog, and build my dream other ways. Being declined is not a failure but rather an opportunity to learn and grow.

Will I apply again? More than likely. I wanted to get feedback as to why I was declined but there was no contact at Silhouette to find out. If anyone reading knows, please share in the comments.

With that said, have you tried applying to either company? Were you successful? I have not been able to find many people talking about their experiences applying to both companies.
