So, I Recently Realized That I’m a Writer

A Stream of Consciousness Introduction

Self-portrait at 1:59 AM, because the best things happen in the dark.

When I was a little girl, I used to write poetry. Then I grew up, and I stopped doing things I enjoy because I was taught that that was part of growing up.

All my life, I have expressed myself through different mediums — see what I did there? — but it all comes down to writing. Even if I wasn’t getting paid, I was always writing stuff down. There was always this catharsis that I didn’t acknowledge because, well, I wasn’t making any money from it.

If I’m not making money from it, it must be a waste of time, right?

But I recently realized that I’ve always been a time traveler — not literally, stick with me here, I’m working on a metaphor. I always arrive too early. I was always meant to be a writer. But now, technology has finally caught up with me.

Now, there are so many systems and platforms in place where you can be a freelance writer, blogger, or self-publish books, magazines, or your own poetry from your childhood.

So, I’ve been traveling in time, always going forward, always arriving on the wrong date. The technology just wasn’t invented yet. I couldn’t justify filling notebooks full of handwritten doodles and stream of consciousness thoughts. But now, there’s no excuse not to write — whether for profit, for fun, or for catharsis.

Now I get to really get in touch with myself on all levels: philosophically, emotionally, and taking much-needed carved-out time to apologize to my inner child. It’s time to let my wings of creativity spread and fly wherever it wants to go.

And anyone that says they don’t have the time to write, well, you do. Unless you are strictly old-school and you only want to write with a feather and quill, pen to paper, or a good old typewriter, if you have a smart device — which I’m betting you do if you’re reading this — you most likely have a voice-to-text function.

So now, instead of writing down your thoughts, you can fire up your voice-to-text app, whatever it may be on whatever smart device in this future that is now, and you can start writing with your voice. I’m not saying it’s going to be good. You will definitely have to go through and proofread that sucker: insert capitalization, spaces, create paragraphs, and oh — let’s not forget grammar and punctuation. But hey, it’s a good start.

So I didn’t really tell you that much about myself except for that I’m a born writer, and I’ve only recently realized that. So here I am now, and I’m going to write about a little bit of everything. I do have a beauty blog, I do have social media that centers around the beauty community, and I love the beauty niche, but on here, it’s gonna be a smorgasbord of all kinds of shenanigans.

I hope I write something that intrigues you now and again, because even I don’t really know what’s coming. Travel into the future with me — the future is now.

This is my first post on here, so don’t be too hard on me. I’m still learning how to format and make this pleasant to read.
