So I met this woodchuck on my walk the other day…
And I don’t know if you know this, but woodchucks are usually pretty shy. Not exactly chatty, if you catch my drift.
I didn’t know when or if this opportunity would present itself again, and I’m as curious as the next guy, so I went for it.
“You’re a woodchuck?” I asked, matter-of-factly.
No retreat. So…check.
“I didn’t even know there were woodchucks around here.”
My new associate looked around, eyes wide in disbelief, and suddenly I noticed all the nearby twigs and sticks had been stripped bare.
Slightly embarrassed, I confided, “I have less visual acuity than most.”
A sudden, toothy smile.
“Well, I’ve never met a woodchuck before. So, ya know, this is new.”
Yeah.
We stood by the river in silence, like two old friends.
And I thought, “This woodchuck is chill.”
