So, How’s Scientology Doing?

Here’s what I know about Scientology:

Tom Cruise made the church famous by attributing his success to it. Leah Remini has spoken out about the abuses that go on in the church and their beliefs. Davis Miscavige’s wife, Shelly Miscavige, hasn’t been seen since 2008. They believe aliens control people, and their church is key to overcoming control.

Their whole religion is based on L. Ron Hubbard’s science fiction novels.

The Superbowl Ad

The church of Scientology is based on getting money from its constituents as they progress higher in the church. Tom Cruise alone has donated upwards of $25 million to the church during his time there. Their exploitative practices, such as child labor and taking every last penny from desperate people, give them enough money to do extravagant things like putting up a 90-second Super Bowl ad.

The higher-ups at the church know that this investment of $21 million would pay off in the long run if they got even a few people to join the church. They take everything from the parishioners and use it to live a fantastical lifestyle.

Human Trafficking?!

The Tampa Bay News reported on this, saying:

Three former Church of Scientology workers who said they endured “a world filled with abuse, violence, intimidation and fear” in the organization must bring their claims of human trafficking to an arbitration panel of loyal church members, not the U.S. justice system, a federal judge has ruled.

While I am not a lawyer, I cannot believe that allowing accusations against the church to be dealt with inside the church would be ethical or legal.

Leah Remini has come out saying that the church forces members to sign a billion-year contract to work and give their lives up to the church for eternity.

Danny Masterson Rape Conviction

If you were a fan of That 70’s Show then you were likely disappointed to hear about Danny Masterson’s rape conviction.

Masterson is a prominent member of the church who has been outspoken about it’s positive effects on his life and career. It was shocking to discover that he not only had rape allegations against him, but the church stood behind him and covered up the actions as well.

Masterson’s lawyer is currently being charged with giving over discovery evidence to the church of scientology. The arrogance in the church to believe that they can get away with crime and corruption has become much more prevalent in 2023.

So, Is Scientology Getting Better?

No.

Absolutely not.

Scientology has little to no redeeming factors that I could find.

Everything about the church, from the power structure to the belief system, has caused tremendous pain and loss for thousands of people.

The church doesn’t want us to forget about them or their beliefs, but they do want to sweep their negative image from the media by having bigger and more powerful leaders than they already have.
