Snowed Rain and Soft Hail
A Season’s Embrace
It was a crazy island weather this morning In 20 minutes a stark split A soft hail, cottony snow, like manna from heaven Rain and hail bounced from the balcony ledge
Next, the heavens opened up wiping clear the sky Rosemary frowned in my direction Sage rolled its eyes in question The dill swayed in resignation
I looked at my hand, a hail melted in my grip Change in climate so apparent A mighty old Douglas Fir whispered Sometimes I get tired of being brave
The Cedar answered There is faith that’s only found in doubt Just like the leaves on this autumn day They don’t drop, they just let go
With the sky suddenly clear and blue The world was somehow rearranged We live another day In the providence of this morning light.
Grateful for rain and hail, when the weather danced whimsically.
