Snow & White: December Prompt

December Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Snow & White”

Snow falling on head — frosty wonderland.

It rarely snows where I live, but when it does —I get outside and hit the beach. Snowfall gives nature a change of scenery, renews perspective, and challenges me — to get upside down.

It took a few tries to get this shot!

Initially, I tried to do the headstand on the snow, but it was too slippery for my boots to propel me into the pose.

I settled on the sand.

December’s Challenge

December’s challenge is to capture a photo that features snow or white in some way. Ideally, the photo you capture occurs in nature.

Note: Please DO NOT submit photos of clouds as the main feature of your photos, as we already had a “Cloud Challenge” in September.

Can you publish a photo that represents “snow or white” and tell a story about it in six words?

Grab those cameras or dig into your archives and see what you can come up with — you may be surprised what you observe your surroundings.

I dare you!

Use your imagination. I see snow falling, ocean foam, white horses, white roses, white bunnies, coconut flesh….what do you see?

The photo must be taken by yourself and include your photo credit. For your subtitle: Please use December Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Snow & White” (like the subtitle used in this article.) Please tag your story using these tags: Monthly Challenge, Photography, Six Word Photo Story.

The December“Snow White” challenge is open for submissions from Wed, December 1st, and closes Sun, December 19, 2021, at noon, Pacific Standard Time.

  • **IMPORTANT NOTICE!! Please note that this publication will be CLOSED for all Monthly Challenge and Freestyle submissions from Mon, December 20, 2021, until Mon, January 3, 2022. Please DO NOT send any submissions during this time period. If I receive any submissions during these dates, your submissions will be unread, automatically rejected, and will be returned to your drafts folder.
  • Your editor, Mary Chang Story Writer needs to take a winter break! Please respect my downtime during this period 😉
  • The January Monthly Challenge will be published on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, and all submissions will re-open that day.

Freestyle Stories

You also have the option to write a six-word photo story featuring a photo and topic of your own choosing — as long as the photo and story are connected in some way. The story doesn’t need to be related to the monthly challenge prompt. For your subtitle: Please use your own subtitle followed by the word: Freestyle OR use Six Word Photo Story: Freestyle. Please tag your story using these tags: Freestyle, Photography, Six Word Photo Story.

Submissions are always open for Freestyle stories (EXCLUDING December 20, 2021-January 3, 2022!)

On writing your Six Word Photo Story

Read and follow the submission guidelines. Your story must be six words only. If your six word story has a backstory, the backstory can be between 1–2 minutes. Anything longer than 2 minutes will not be accepted. The concept of this publication is to keep the stories short.

Format: It should be formatted like this story from the featured photo that appears ABOVE the title down to the 3 dots — which signals the end of the story. For formatting instructions, see Formatting Your Six Word Photo Story.

If your story requires any edits or doesn’t meet guidelines, it will delay publication and may not be accepted.

If you’d like to be added as a writer and submit to Six Word Photo Story Challenge publication, please read and follow the submission guidelines.
