Sniper Elite 5, My First Impression of the Game.
It’s not a run and gun, but another Sly Cooper with a Rifle!

So I’ve been playing Sniper Elite 5 for a little while now and the game is everything I expected and nothing like I expected. In fact, there are several things that I’ve grown to love about the game and a few things I don’t like but are easily remedied on my part.
For some time now, I’ve grown accustomed doing what’s necessary to complete missions and getting the job done but in this game it sort of feels like there’s wiggle room to have a little fun like gunning your enemies down at a distance.
But again, Sniper Elite 5 is an awesome game and there are things about it that really get me into the game. These 5 things are the most notable.
I. Enemies are plentiful. Now, Sniper Elite 5 is all about killing from the shadows so mastering this skill is instrumental in throwing the Germans off their game. I’m down with this!
II. Strategy, Strategy and more Strategy. Developing certain strategies in order to keep your trail cold isn’t that hard. One way is to booby trap the bodies of the enemy soldiers you kill. That way, you’ll keep others from picking up your trail. I’ve always believed in covering my tracks, this game lets me do just that.
III. Check your Map for Additional Objectives. There are collectibles to be collected and the objectives on your map will often lead you to said collectibles like Intel or Letters etc. So don’t be so quick to rush to your next objective, take the time and explore the map in its entirety. I just discovered this last night but definitely worth checking in my opinion.
IV. Grass is your Friend. Always, Always use the grass to hide yourself but I also found that hiding in the grass after killing an enemy soldier isn’t advised because they often come searching in that area and most times, they’ll find you. I learned the hard way that you can’t stay in the grass long if you kill an enemy soldier, kill then make a dash.
V. Explosive Barrels. Anytime you see these, detonate them. The fireworks show is spectacular and that’s from the perspective of seeing an entire German jeep torched to cinders. Do this as often as possible. Plus, this is also a good way to kill as many enemy soldiers as possible in the shortest amount of time. I love these, and that explosion to follow.
There are other weapons on your person like an AK and a pistol. I personally like these up close weapons because it soon becomes necessary to use when you’re up close and personal with the soldiers.
Overall, this game is a perfect 10 but the action can fall off if you, and I mean, YOU, get sloppy about trying to hide yourself or find strategic ways of killing your enemies. This game is action packed and you’re going to need to stay with that action in order to survive and not get bored.
If you walk a few feet, look around. If you’re shooting a soldier up, get out of sight. If you kill a soldier up close and personal with you melee weapons, booby trap the body or set a mine by said body. That way, anyone comes looking for you will get dealt with.
The point of this game is to stay in the shadows and kill everything and anything that poses a threat to your operation, this is your world; the enemy soldiers are just visitors. Make them vacate, if you know what I mean!
