Sleeping In The Dark Forest Of My Soul

The dangerous dark births something in me

Picture: Darkmoon_Art via Pixabay

Shall I lie on barren soil? No mattress, no cushion, just me and Mother?

I hope she will remember me comfort me, hold me, whisper her wisdom into my ears so it can merge with my longing for vast horizons and changed realities.

The dark forest where I put my body to rest is frighteningly chaotic at first.

A dense, devilish maze and I fear getting lost.

Sister moon pulls me, nudges me, laughs at me and when I see a tiny star through a hole in the foliage, I know I’m not alone.

Terrifying sounds become chatter of familiar insects and birds who work at night. I’m able to relax.

The uninhabitable maze turns into a labyrinth. I know my way.

My eyesight blinded, a sensual instinct takes over. My longing is the only compass I need.

In this dark forest of my soul something is birthed, eager to be born for a long time.

My courage.

Thanks, Diana C. for the challenge in Know Thyself, Heal Thyself. Your prompts spur me on to write more poetry. And my writing completely aligns with all of them in the 30-day poetry challenge.

This one fits several of the beautifully phrased prompts, but I attribute it to Day 3: Ancient and eternal connection with Gaia

I will write many more these next 30 days. And because I will not tag anyone in the next ones, you have to be alert yourself if you want to read them.

But for now, let me tag a few of my poetry writing and poetry reading friends.
