seeking cool rhythms

watching winter’s symphonies

mumurations rise

harmonise the silent air

with synchronised composure

On most days I walk our dog, Munch, through the fields and small woods and along the brook — just a few minutes walk away from where I live. I feel so fortunate to be able to witness the seasons change in such peaceful surroundings. And when my mind is overly busy or chaotic, this is where I can get my thoughts into a better rhythm.

Now accepting haiku, tanka, and monoku poems on the theme of composure. What brings you ease or makes you feel composed?

Below you will find descriptions of the proper forms and subjects for the poetry that House of Haiku accepts.

Haikus are poems traditionally about nature in the syllable and line form of 5/7/5.

Please use the syllable counters provided in the Submission Guidelines, before submitting a draft, to confirm that your syllable counts adhere to the proper forms detailed above.
