These six steps are the secret to preventing burnout.

Every Entrepreneur is in danger of burnout, even more so as the pandemic lingers on. At least once a day I am a conversation about burnout.

There’s so much to do each day. There are people to take care of, bills to pay, our bodies to nourish, and our minds to keep stress-free.

Every other day a loved one has Covid or is having a mental breakdown. Here are 5 Ways to Beat Pandemic Blues!

We want to enjoy our legacies, not just leave them behind.

The quality, not the longevity, of one’s life is what is important.

~ Martin Luther King Jr.

Time is moving fast for many and we find ourselves chasing our own tails.

As an entrepreneur coach, I suggest following these six simple steps to prevent yourself from burning out.

1. Make a decision — press the reset button

What I have noticed in my years as an entrepreneur and whilst observing the industry and working with top entrepreneurs, is that it is very hard for us to see past the blinders.

We get focused on something and we run with it, yet is it really serving our highest good?

You might think you are pushing the envelope yet are you not perhaps running fast in the wrong direction? You should prevent at all costs the Top Risk of Staying in Your Comfort Zone!

Please note that this has nothing to do with GOOD.

Serving our highest good has to do with GROWTH.

You can be a philanthropist and not be serving your highest good. Now I know that sounds a bit strange, and I am using an extreme example here.

Again note that ‘good’ doesn’t necessarily mean you are living your full potential.

Let’s take Elon Musk. Many people feel that he is not serving our planet, that he exudes extreme darkness, yet he might be serving his highest good, from an evolutionary perspective as mentioned in Hidden Messages in Elon’s Ex-wife’s TedTalk.

Pressing the reset button can be difficult.

I have taken mini-retirements throughout my life. Timothy Ferris talks about this in the 4-hour Workweek. Great book!

A mini-retirement allows us to reset.

I also use the power of simplifying.

Perhaps you can think of it as a minimalist approach.

I keep my life as simple as possible.

I own a few things. I don’t even have a car.

If I want to pack up and move to another country for a while, it takes little effort. I have done this many a time. I have lived in 13 countries, traveled to over 35.

How to reset:

LET EVERYTHING YOU THINK YOU KNOW GO.

Use meditation to center yourself and devise a plan of action.

Get up early each day and follow through. Here you can learn How To Wake Up Like A Champ!

Allow your higher self to carry some of the load for you.

We are not designed to figure out the HOW. That is false programming and needs to go if you want to do a reset.

You can also use something like dry fasting. Ray Maor who is an expert at this showed me how and he talks more of it in this video.

I then tried it out for myself and went days without food and water. I explain more about why I did it in this video.

2. Make peace with being uncomfortable for a while

Growing up takes consistent effort.

Let me say that again.

Growing up takes consistent effort.

This does not mean you need to struggle.

Problems arise when we become distracted.

Perhaps you get into a relationship. Perhaps you start a family.

Perhaps you manifest a health issue and momentarily you become distracted.

This is not a train smash.

Once you have made the decision to reset you can expect to feel uncomfortable for a while. Accept this.

It won’t be long before you are back into the swing of things on your new path.

3. Build a better version of yourself

Once you have made the decision to reset, made peace with taking a new course, a new path, the next step is to build.

Building = reinforcing.

What do you want to reinforce? You need to be clear about this. Write it down.

What person do you want to be? What do you want to accomplish? What thoughts do you want to reinforce? What actions do you want to reinforce?

4. Work on your focus

Don’t know about you, but over time with the pandemic and moving to a new country and other distractions, I have lost focus and consistency.

Do I cry at night over it?

NO.

Did I feel disappointed before I did another reset?

A little bit yes, until I remind myself that there are no mistakes. That EVERYTHING happens for a reason and that I can find the positive in all.

Let’s recap: Reset, accept being uncomfortable as you course correct, start reinforcing the better version of you and put measures in place to stay consistent and to stay focused.

5. Stay in your lane

Our purpose in this life is to express ourselves as fully as we can.

The liberating and easy part about this is that because we are unique, we can’t really compete with anyone else.

Why do we struggle then? It’s limiting fear-based beliefs and nothing more.

I see entrepreneurs copying each other, spending vast amounts of their time and energy, consuming other people’s content to mimic them. Entrepreneurs on Social Media Are Out Of Control.

Worst Advice: Find A Person Who Has What You Want & Mimic Them.

What is easier than just being yourself?

Why do you distract yourself all the time?

The end result will be that you will be unfulfilled and possibly have regret. You may read more on How to Live A Life of No Regret.

Decide what excites you, stay in your lane, and do your best. It will work out.

6. Use your support system

There’s help everywhere. You don’t even need to ask for it.

You just need to be able to perceive it.

How to perceive it:

Have a relationship with your higher self. You can do this through meditation for one. Perhaps you want to look at One Meditation Secret Most Gurus Don’t Teach.

Also taking a pause, deep breathing, anything that makes you feel connected.

It will give you the cues.

I never used to get a lot of support from family and it really bothered me. I felt like I would never be able to feel settled without it, yet now I realize that there’s support from so many other people and things, each and every day.

Even just the community here on Medium and ILLUMINATION are so very supportive.
