Six People of Interest Have Been Identified by the FBI in Connection With HBCU Bomb Threats

Thirteen historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) received bomb threats at the start of Black History Month. According to the FBI, they now have six adolescents listed as persons of interest in their investigation.

According to NBC News, the juveniles are “tech adept,” which is consistent with police’ statements. Moreover, it has been stated that the juveniles employed “advanced ways in an attempt to conceal their source of the threats, which appear to have a racist intent.”

As a result of the bomb threats, nearly 20 historically black colleges and universities were placed under lockdown. Howard University was one of the first institutions to receive a threat, and the historically black college or university has already been targeted three times in less than a month.

A number of other universities, including Coppin State University, Mississippi Valley State University, Morgan State University, Alcorn State University, Tougaloo College, Jackson State University, Kentucky State University, Fort Valley State University, Xavier, University of the District of Columbia, Spelman College, and Edward Waters University, have also received bomb threats in recent weeks.
